The R8 won't increase in value very considerably but the prices have been static for a while now and there is no reason to think that they will suddenly drop (as against other similar cars) unless there is a macro-economic issue which hits the whole sector.
And this is why I am sitting tight for now..... There could be a entire depression again which would make my ambitious attempts to own such a thing, quite a risk. I don't need them to go up, I am not looking for investment, but a big decrease would be hard to swallow!
That's fair enough - although people who have been waiting for that to happen in the classic/investor/specialist car world have been waiting a long time, and have missed many years of pleasure owning the cars in the meantime!

i looked last night on PH and AT and there hasnt been a lot of movement down in pricing, the low mileage mint cars are still £45k and up. there are a few cars in the £35k range and as expected tend to be Cat C or D repaired when you dig.
lots of choice around the £40-45k mark with the low spec non carbon blade cars, higher mileage etc. nice to see a few cars with 100k+ miles on them, showing they will take the miles (if a little expensively in servicing and repairs no doubt).

£50k up seems to get you into bargain basement V10 which is good.

If a market weakens, advertised prices dont fall for quite a time. Sellers hang on to the idea of what their car or house was worth. But numbers sold decline and usually only those offering good value move on.

I'm not familiar with the R8 market but what I describe above is what Voicey says about the current 360 market and what several dealers have said to me namely " every car that comes in and is sold is sold for just a little bit less than the previous one".

Difficult to predict the future. On the one hand we have low interest rates so people buy high end cars as an investment. On the other hand we have Brexit and its now quite clear that there is initially going to be an economic downturn leaving the EU.

one thing is Audi obviously sold a lot of cars, but a lot of average spec and early semi auto cars are out there too. i'm hoping the market still wants a high spec manual when i eventually sell :-)

R8 base spec is OK to be honest, heated seats & xenons.
Mag ride I would rather not have on a 10 year old car, it's just an expensive liability and I'm not sure I could tell the difference. I had a Boxster 987 on 19" wheels and went to a 997 C4S with PASM and they felt very similar
B&O was the other desirable one but it is pretty crap to be honest, certainly not up there with the B&W system in the XKR or Meridien 825W in the Evoque for example
For me the desirable stuff is the carbon but that is not common at all

plenty of other tick box bits tho on spec, ie front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, extended leather, alcantara roof, etc.
i'd give up mag ride but no one specs up a decent build and leaves em off lol, for me the special bits are the carbon throughout which is lovely, and the stereo. mine has been upgraded from the B & O further with an Audison amp and better speakers, 6 disc cd plus the standard 2 slot memory card. i'm no expert but the stereo is easily the best ive had in any car.
mag ride can at least be repaired now, or swapped out, so its not a major show stopper. to be fair, the ride is brilliant with it, its just a shame its leaky and expensive at times.

Was it you who had the Audison Bit10 with the controller in a custom position in the dash? Or am I confusing with someone else
