What a complicated site! I've managed to access it, I've managed to register, but it keeps saying it won't let me post or access pictures!

Do they take an age to clear you for access or something? Also I cannot find anywhere to edit my profile for area, cars etc.

Guidance please!

thanks.

Alasdair, like you I've just registered and it's not an easy site to get around and use from the start unlike PH. You can edit your profile by clicking on USER OPTIONS then USER CONTROL PANEL.

Can't see anywhere to add a photo to the profile but I think it's do with something called AVATAR but I do not have any options to change for this as it just says DO NOT USE AN AVATAR.

Probably best putting a post up on there or going through the FAQ's.

I wanted to find the forum for the UK peeps if there is one.

Good luck.

Guys,
there is a very active UK section....
Fchat is going over to a subscribed basis and for that reason , non-subscribers don't have avatars and are restricted to 5 MB for pics. You can still post and register for free tho'.
Once you get used to the Forum's layout, it's v easy to navigate. If you need any help , just let me know.

I know it does Tony, it was MOD500 and latterly yourself that pointed me in the F.Chat direction. I am registered but it says I can't post

I'll have another go later.

Other Tony - how do you find your overall Ferrari experience compared to your Cerbera?

I don't know why you can't post...here's a cut n paste explaining how Fchat works;

It's pretty simple. Non subscribed users can still view and post and they can even post up to 5 mb of images. That's a bunch of images and that's plenty of freedom to contribute. Anyone posting more than 5 mb of pics only needs the Silver subscription to get unlimited attachment privileges again. With 8,000 users and growing 800+ a month (hasn't decreased at all with subscriptions) there isn't any shortage of quality users.

I post on fchat just for the regional stuff and imo it is no where near as good as PH.

A totally different experience...

Reliability - Ferrari wins by a mile. No comparison really. The Ferrari hasn’t skipped a beat, runs beautifully every time. I could get the Cerb out of a service or after some work and within 10 miles the thing would need re-tuning again!! Build quality, the Ferrari is so much superior, feels more solid. I drove the Cerb a lot and am doing so with the Ferrari but the Ferrari feels like an everyday car, no probs in traffic, no overheating etc etc…I felt that the Cerb was never going to get me to my destination and leave me somewhere, it only did that twice but I still had that feeling.

Power/Speed – Ferrari feels quicker, sorry, I mean, is quicker. More responsive and the power is on tap all the time. The Cerb would be hit or miss sometimes with the power. The Cerb was pushing out approx 340-350 BHP…The Ferrari is pushing out more than the 400 stated, I have a TUBI so suppose that’s the extra horses but at least I haven’t been mislead with the figures like I was with TVR. Well I wasn’t really, PH put that right so I knew but didn’t know it would have been that much out.

Handling – When I got the 360, I felt too scared to push it to its limits, felt a bit uneasy with the engine behind me and such a wide car. I preferred the way I could drive the Cerb, I felt I was in much more control, I loved getting the arse out of the Cerb and power sliding, I do miss that feeling. But after some practice in the 360 playing with the various controls (Sport & ASR) I’m beginning to feel more confident in throwing it about. What has made a massive difference is changing the tyre pressures and now this 360 handles like nothing else….I can now take bends at astonishing speeds and this thing just wants to stick and stick…no more oversteer and now playing with the understeer like in the Cerb….Still though, I had more fun in the Cerb round corners/bends but I’m sure over time I’ll master the 360…It feels so much better than me but I felt I mastered the Cerb, maybe I didn’t but I felt I did.

Looks – I loved the Cerb’s looks and still do but the 360’s looks are in a different league…so much more presence than the Cerb, oh and better response from the Ladies!!!!

Costs – The Ferrari drinks more than the Cerb, not by much, but I do like playing with the paddles!! Ferrari wins on servicing, 12K compared to 6K and from what I can tell, the 360 will be cheaper to service than the Cerb.

Comfort – The Ferrari with the F1 box is so easy to drive and can drive it quicker than the Cerb using much less effort….however, I’m not too keen on this as I like a powerful supercarish motor to feel rugged and hard to drive…makes it a better experience instead of a Merc feel!! (I'm not saying the 360 feels like a Merc, absolutely no way, I meant to say it's so much of an easier drive than the Cerb). On a long drive I would prefer to take the Ferrari though….Cerb has rear seats…I miss that.

Overall, Ferrari all day long but the Cerb is a very good sports car, I do miss the rawness of it but there’s just too many pros than cons for the Ferrari over the Cerb to ever make me want another one.

You're damn right me ol' china....And you're not???

Just to add, it's funny looking at my first few posts on here when I bought the Cerb how I thought nothing could be better, how wrong I was!!! Still though the Cerb is a great motor and had much fun in it

You've not only got to Register (which is free) but also Subscribe (which you have to pay for).

If you're registered but not subscribed, then you get less options when editing your profile.

I hope that clears things up?!

P.S. F-chat is a lot better for Ferrari Specific stuff, and there is a great wealth of technical expertise on the Technical forums, which has repayed the subscription cost many times over for me!

Hi Allan

Why do you think that? I noticed that you used to post a fair bit on f-chat at one time.

Martyn.

That clears a few things up then - thanks.

Good balanced opinion there Tony, thank you.

Now all I have to figure is, very late 348 Spider or very early 355 Spider. From what I can gather, 355 had their problems too so would it be safer to go for an immaculate late 348... which I prefer the shape of?

And, if I pay top end for an A1 late 348 is it likely to plummet over the next few years, hence should I get a cheaper one... thinking £37k v £30k.

It's all very confusing

and even decatted with a Tubi, will it sound as good as my Griff 500 did through Tadcaster last night

£37 k won't be enough unless it's a LHD 355 with high miles .It will buy one of the best, and very rare, RHD 348 Spiders tho'.
I'm afraid i'm not qualified to comment on 348 depreciation. As for the decat Tubi, it's a totally different sound to the low down grunt of a TVR V8.The Tubi'd Ferrari sound above 4k RPM is pure high pitched F1.

So rather than vibrate the walls it might shatter a few window panesthen, given the right location

I take it that, in your opinion, a very good, pretty rare RHD 348 Spider is not quite the leper that some people in Ferrari circles make it out to be then?

Ay up - what did Yank say!??? Do I take it he doesn't like either a) Ferraris or b) Ferrari drivers

Personally, i have no problem with the 348 , and the Spider version's still a stunner, notwithstanding the over- fussy door styling. An old biz partner bought one new in 1994 from Talacrest and i have to say it was the nuts. Certainly put my[then] new 993 cab in the shade whenever we went out together !
