Is it just me or isnt it time Ferrari made another beautiful car? I can understand the Enzo being umm aestetically challenged but the 360 replacement could afford to look the part too. There must be queues of designers willing to lend their name to an F-car....
Hope this isnt too controversial.

Agreed.

If its a beauty contest between the Gallardo and the New 360.

Lamborghini wins by a landslide!

It took me an age to get to adore the Enzo. But it is fantastic and unique when you get used to it.

The 360 didn't do anything for me either looks wise, in fact, I was a bit let down. I've always been fond of the Ferrari "mouth", and the sculptured, hard-to-describe loveliness that is the 355's rear.

Lately though, especially the 360CS, its kinda grown on me again...oh I dunno. I dont really like those pictures though, it doesn't make me want to own one. Maybe I'm getting older, I *still* prefer the 550 to just about any Ferrari and I've got this..thing..for the lovely classic shapely rears, like the 456 which is simply, shaggable. I cant make my mind up on the big gaping finned hole either.

Damn. I refuse to acknowledge any Lambo that could nicer however.

Mwah, mwah! :O) http://carshots.free.fr/photoautre/ferrari/550/maranello/1997_ferrari_550_maranello_06_sb.jpg

What models would you say were beautiful?

For me, as I've said elsewhere, every Ferrari prior to the 360 was stunning. The 355 was the quintessential Ferrari, the F40 is has heaps of character, the F50 I like a lot too.

360 doesn't have the presence. Before I actually saw one I dont know how many mis-interpreted Fiats I saw, or Celica's. I like wide and low, I dont want a raised nose, or the raised headlights.

I know the 360 is a beatiful car, its just not that ... character?

Just a guess maybe that's because of crash testing requirements?

I know this will appear to be biased....the picture of the physical F430 from the rear a few posts ago is a worry. I haven't really got a major preference for Lambo / ferrari , I'd own either of them before another Porker BUT the styling is too fussy and sligtly contrived for me. I really cant see the F430 progressing into middle age as gracefully as the 360 in 5-6 years. The best way of showing this would be to put the best looking Ferrari (imho), the 328 GTB, on that same bit of road and see what you think...the 360 still looks beautiful (not next to a Dino or a F355 admittedly, but it's still great) - the F430 will look crap in 2009.

Good news for all the 360 owners on here though! Remember how 328 prices stabilised once the 348 came out?

In short, I'd take my bull over this particular prancing horse.

Oh Jim, that's a bit downbeat. I think that new look, especially when we get to see it in the flesh, will really set it apart from previous models.

The more I see the Enzo the more I recognise it as a true 21st Century motoring icon, and if the new car can share some of those radical traits then all the better. It's really grown on me since being a little bit surprised by the first pics. But no matter how often I see that hideous exhaust cluster on the Zonda, I think...no, not nice.

If you want bland you could always get a Maserati ;o)

If you want ridiculous, there's always the Zonda.

Troublesome doors that wont stay open? Use a Lambo.

Ultra-modern supercar? Ah yes, that'll be a Ferrari.

Question is though, why would you want to set your new car apart from some of, if not the most, beautiful cars ever built?

Rose tints are definitely off. I'd be the first to admit that Ferrari has made some real howlers. But who wouldn't have a 250GT SWB, 250GT Lusso, Daytona, 288GTO, F40, 308, 355...the list goes on!

Change for change's sake is not a good thing, and whilst new models eventually become necessary, why must they look fugly?

As for the Enzo, Ferrari gave up making their super versions look good after the F40. Granted, the challenge was (still is) a tough one. But they don't even seem to be trying too hard.

You can tell the arse end of the F430 isn't good when someone compares it to a Gallardo and it loses! (no offence meant LamboJim, I agree with you )

As for the Zonda...was never a fan of these things until I visited the factory. The aesthetics still don't work for me on many levels, but I have never, ever seen quality like that on a car. The carbon work is insanely good and the whole thing oozes quality.

If I had 300k lying around I'd be having a chat with Mr Pagani. Only question would be whether it'd be orange, or left nude (for an extra sum of spon).

Was chased by a pearl orange Murci last week too. Another awesome car. Completely blown away by the Crown Super Deluxe taxi I was in, but who cares.

Mines built by Audi - I think the doors will be fine (shame they open out , not up though).
