Hello to all,
I had a white with white interior LP5000S about 4 years ago but I sold it to Amari. I beleive he sold it to someone in Australia, so that's one less.
However I now have a red LP500S Koenig version I imported from America a couple of years ago. So, one more for the total I guess.

The LP400S S1 was the first car with the wheelarch extensions to accomodate the Pirelli P7 tyres.

The first LP400S series 1 had different Campagnolo alloys and are very sought after. The series 2 had the more commonplace OZ alloys as seen on the subsequent 5000 and QV models. The main difference between the LP400S and 5000S is the 5 litre engine along with some interior changes. The QV brought in a 5.2 litre engine with 4 valve heads and downdraft carbs which required a different engine cover and wider front tyres. The Anniversary had major changes to styling, suspension, alloys and interior (for the worse IMO).

I would say the most sought after cars in order would be:
LP400
LP400S S1
LP5000 QV
LP400S S2
LP5000S

You are so good at this may i ask u to help clarify to all the LP500/LP5000 issue and also the matter of 881/2. I would add that in my view the LP400 is the purists car, and for me the LP500s with wing ( not that i like the wing) is the most iconic and perhaps the QV the best drivers car. I have yet to see a tatty Countach but condition is an overriding matter with these cars and a great Annerversary may be a better bet and worth more than an ok example of a LP500. I would also say that there seems to be a following for all types with the Anniversary perhaps more appreciated stateside. I agree with all Craigs comments but to anybody who wants one, a Countach is a Countach is a Countach.

Despite being an ex anniversary owner, I agree with everything here. Would add 88.5 car (once very sought after in it's day) probably sits below the QV and 400S

Over on Ferrari chat under the lambo forum there is a great thread on the countach with loads of detial and the answer to any question that you can think of!

There are detailed or minute detailed discussions on differences between all the cars.

The earleir ones are the lightest and rarest, only 140 made rusted crashed etc and by far the most valuable. Balboni said they are the worst to drive though!

The anniversary was the most changed with about 500 minor changes compared to the QV. The suspension changes were very minor the biggest change in handling was using the PZero as opposed to the origunal P7 tyre

I have a QV so you can guess where my allegances lie!

They are iconic no matter which one you choose.
They are also still seriously fast cars. 455, 470 in properly tuned engines, 1450kg no catalysts or other electronics to hold you back or on the road!

If you know knockhill circuit in scotland, mine will easily do 125 in third on main straight and would pull 135 in 4th before braking point. I went around with a GT2 twin tirbo 550bhp 911. He would pass me after half way up the main straight.

Would be nice to get a lot of these cars together again?? Last time was in 90's at Silverstone Classic weekends.

I am again organising the Scottish Italian CAr and Bike day at Hopetoun House nr Edinburgh on 12th August. Would be good to get more than 4 there! Anyone fancy a weekend up here in gods chosen country?

Hi Stephen - hope you're still enjoying the LP400. I miss mine but scared to think what it would be worth if I'd kept it! I must have had a relapse to forget to list the 88.5 QV - especially as I used to own one...

I'd rank it below the 'standard' QV as although rarer the side strakes spoil the lines IMO and it doesn't work with a rear wing. It supposedly had a few improvements over the standard QV but these were pretty minimal (I think largely to do with improved venilation/ AC)

There seems to be fewer and fewer of us hanging on to these babies. I love mine but it is steadily losing out to newer and faster makes and models. Strangely, having adapted to faster mchines I drive the Countach faster than ever as it feels relatively slow now! BUT once it is stantionary it is in a league of it's own - Nothing looks meaner and more puposeful - well perhaps two together. We should have a Countach beer indeed. I generally pop along to the Poesche Club at Brands 2nd Wednesday of the month, Onfortuately I can't do the March meet.

Paul I understand your sentiments in many respects there are as you say newer faster cars out there to tempt us away they are infinitely easier to drive and live with and they have brakes that work !

However for the same money (ish and at the moment) a 599 or a DBS Just can't touch the audible and visual drama that a Countach delivers every drive is epic IMHO and the other conselation is that they go up not down which is always nice

It's hard to imagine the effect and reaction at Geneva 1971 when they pulled the covers off over 40 years ago I think the Marina was launched at same show.

For anyone who has had the experience they are awesome however my 11 year old feels that way about an Aventador and I dont blame him.

Well the car is parked in my office so i do get all year round enjoyment out of it. As you may know i was invited to Goodwood ( well the car was) last year and i ended up driving it down from york and it was such a great trip i wonder why i dont do more longer trips. Since Goodwood i have had a lot of work done to it ( erratic fuel gauge, two rose joints, lots of pipes incuding the one that joins the petrol tanks which was pinched with the bracket and explains why i was having to fill both sides and causing havoc at petrol stations- park in middle one fuel line one side, one the other, full service and tuning, boot catch and other odds and ends) and the car now is in the best condition it has ever been and the engine is just perfect. Yes the value is an issue and the worry does detract from the enjoyment as i spend my time being extra cautious which can be tiring but i try to remember Chris Evans and his california when he sold it and lost £2 mill in about two years i think and it does put some perspective on the matter. In short i love the car and if i dont drive it what's the point? stephen

It's good to see so many owners and ex owners post on here , one thing that has become apparent is that it is difficult to get a definitive number of Countach's still residing here in the UK , which in a way is kind of nice , I would hazard a guess at there being 50% of the original 14 QV5000 imported into the UK still here but it's just a rough guess . Would be nice to see all the variants together at an event somewhere someday , they always make a spectacle and draw the crowds whichever model turns up . For people of my generation the Countach is still king , always will be , and if I had the gonads to buy one a couple of years ago instead of the Diablo I don't think I would have regretted it , just I needed an easier car to drive because of my lack of experience and the newer more modern Diablo I was counting on being a more cost effective way into Lambo ownership as cash don't grow on tree's in my neck of the woods . Hats off to all you owners and dedicated enthusiasts out there anyhow , and here's hoping you all turn up at the same event somewhere sometime . Keep posting pic's if you feel the need , I for one will never tire of looking at them .

I do not know what it is with this grey anniversary despite what it says I thought it sold at auction late last year for approximately £60,000 which I thought was cheap.
I thought at the time it was a good looking car and I licked the colour scheme but it seems not to find a good new home. Why surely at £60 to £70,000 it is cheap Countach ownership.

Made enquiries about the above car a while ago and the seller (owner?) wants a stupid amount for it.
