According to Road & Track the boss of Lambo America says there's a stripped out, RWD, manual Gallardo on its way as a sendoff to manual shifting.

So, could this be the ultimate G before it dies, or just another special edition?

Yawn!

I'm so bored of all the Gallardo 'special' editions....it makes them less special when there's one released almost every six months.....

No, a stripped-out, manual Balboni :-)

Wonder if it'll have 2 coloured stripes, or three?

The LP550 is already stripped out tbh as it's 1320kg without the front drive train bits, from memory.

Surely this just means an LP570-2 Manual?

What does LP570-2 mean. I'm guessing 570 for bhp, but what's LP and 2?

LP is the orientation of the engine (longitudinal posteriore), which literally translated means rear longitudinal, and the 2 stands for 2wd.

Longitudinale Posteriore = rear straight (engine position)

-2 = 2wd

That would be epic to be fair.

I don't understand why a Lamborghini would care enough to do a send off model, yet cut the manual completely.

If you are buying 160-300 car, just make the manual an expensive bespoke option, rather than kill it off completely.

presumably it's something to do with a manual's inability to be artificially programmed to pass corporate fuel consumption tests ?

I assumed it was due to the small amount of people wanting manuals rather than fuel and emissions.

Confirms what I've heard...

That is 560 and not 570

The Gallardo - hate to say it - is now (well) past its use by date....
