On the subject of aero on a road car, I wanted to have a GT1 style rear wing fitted to my Corvette Z06 to give it a more aggressive ‘Le Mans’ style look.
I tracked down the company who made the original rear wing for the Mclaren F1 GTR And they agreed to take a look at the car. The options were whatever I wanted, but to comply with road regulations they would have to keep the dimensions within the overall measurements of the car. I have owned this car for 12 years and never had any issues with MOT’s, insurance or law enforcement. Having the rear wing made, and meeting the guys who made it was in my book a worthwhile journey, as their stories of working with Colin Chapman were so interesting.
Sorry, starting to ramble.

Go for it !! Would love to see a build thread on if

I have always fancied a 430 race car for the road.

I used to run my old Porsche 968 club championship car on the road ( it was a road car first though before we converted it)

Great fun

I have just gotten my challenge 430 road legal and basically the only thing it's good for is driving to and from the track without having to put it on a flatbed but man how much fun it is to drive both on the road and on the track clearly having it road legal is a very good way of losing my license however that is always been a problem as I have other cars that are probably faster

Nice - which country ?

I never pursued it further and decided I will probably go non-road legal eventually

Wasn’t sure where best to post this, but figured it would make a nice change from all the value threads on here. Makes for good Sunday entertainment with your morning coffee

Thanks for posting, enjoyed that ,yes i think we are all getting a little bored with the doom and gloom threads , Infact i don't bother to read them anymore which now makes the "Super Car " threads very quick reading ,we need more uplifting things like this ,after all we can turn to our Newspapers for the depressing stuff,

That was absolutely EPIC, that's one very angry 360 Love It!!!

I actually quite like the idea of race cars registered for the road and have had some barking mad stuff like the Westfield XTR2 which I used to drive to and from trackdays when I was somewhat younger

Sitting on the M25 in an XTR2 next to an Artic with its wheel nuts looking like a circular saw could be quite intimidating

Not quite a 360 but I've recently bought a Mini that has undergone a full build to Mini Challenge Race Car Spec, literally ready to turn up at the next round of a championship, well almost

Its an R50 Mini with a Swindon 1.6 Supercharged 230HP built engine,6 speed Getrag Box and Quaife Diff, Full Race Suspension and Bushes, 6 Pot Brakes plus everything in the safety department to go racing

It's great fun on the road and the bang for buck is fantastic

Just fantastic. Incredible skill and reflexes. And the doughnuts at the end in what looks a pretty tight space. Nice.

Yup and those trees look scary
Could be good fun, but not sure I am brave enough (and you’d have to be positively insane to be my co-driver)

I see quite a lot of Minis at track days - they certainly don’t hold back and are quite fast. They are also the most likely ones to cause a red flag by burying the car in the litter from what I can tell ... I guess its either 10/10th or don’t even bother - I need to try harder

Yes I still have it, I bought it late last year but unfortunately no track days so far.

The idea was to have a car that you can drive to evening track sessions at Brands etc,run round for a couple of hours then drive home.

I normally use the Juno for full on track days but that's a trailer job and mechanic

The little Mini is absolutely epic down the lanes and just makes me smile, you don't even have to be going silly quick to enjoy it.

Funny really it's the cheapest car I have but my favourite at the moment, probably because I wasn't to worried about taking in out during the winter. It handles in the wet like most cars in the dry on the road, only about 1000kgs I think

What is the spec of this car? Was it a Challenge car originally and does it have a different engine to stock? Thanks

It's a Challenge car IIRC (the exhaust is right for a Challenge car) It's been retrofitted with a Hewland sequential dog 'box to replace the F1 transmission. I {i]think[/i] and I stress think, it's probably Dani Sola's old car :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMygdnqVOQ8

Engine wise I think the Challenge engines were very lightly modified (but they ran different F1 transmission software and closer ratios and/or final drive)
