We're looking for a Maser 3200GT (manual box, the earlier the better) for a big feature we're planning in the week starting Feb 7th. If anyone has - or knows of - a nice, standard example that the owner would like to have immortalised in the pages of evo (and doesn't mind being driven by the mag) please send an email to jethrob@evo.co.uk

In return we can offer fame (but alas no fortune, though we do pay exes) and a nice set of prints of the car.

Thank you,
Peter T

And I'll be happy to 'look after' yours when your not using it (look after involves putting miles onto your car not mine and using yours in icy/bad weather, keeping mine clean for sunny days at vw )

Long story Pete - I get called Tony a lot round here, but Rich is actually my name, either does fine though

Will give em a call after the weekend if it's still there. Hopefully gonna drive a spyder on Saturday so we'll see what the old girl is still worth...

Got a trade in price on your 3200 yet, I'd be interested to know (in confidence - pm me!) what you're being offered...

Cheers!

To Be Honest Im not that worried about selling (hard to believe I know) But if I dont get the right price then I wont Sell as the Car still makes me smile EVERY time I driver her!

Ive got enough storage to keep me happy and I will still use her as day to day Transport and use the Gransport as the "treat"

Would like to Add ! Bye bye Bentley !
Maserati = Passion
Bentley = Accounts Figures ! and No Passion IMO
(Dont car If I get Flamed for this! as its my Money Im Spending !)
Masearti Has Passion and Common Sense Built in and THEY ARE BACK BIG TIME ! FINALLY !
FERRARI LEARN FROM THIS !(ARGHHHHHHHHHHH)

Best of luck - I offered my 99 3200 to you guys about two years ago for such an article but you were not keen! It will be interesting to see what you guys make of it. I found the steering to be very poor and wet weather traction laughable but the handling is no where near as bad as some on this forum suggest.

Slightly off topic but got my evo in the post this morn and was very interested in your Aston Martin V8 Vantage comments. Hopefully it can match the 911 as you suggest but some of us on this forum are still a little confused at evo's change of view on the GranSport late last year from 911 equal to tenth or whatever it ended up being in the car of the year... Still the only decent car mag around though!

Agreed.

Mr Tommo, after that little demonstration of foot-shooting I wouldn't even lend you my Trabant - OK, you don't want my Trabant, but it's all you deserve...

Two Maserati's, NICE!

I on the other hand don't have any storage and would have problems getting that one past by financial controller (The wife).

Chris - You are a Top Bloke.
We Should all have a Photoshoot with cars at the next Event.
Must Admit, Took the Gransport out today again.
It takes only a little getting used to ref : paddle shift. Its a very good gear box in the car.
I felt I was in a PS2 game Chris !
I think im 33 going on 10 !

Well mine isn't the car they';ll be using - they wanted a 99 car for the price increment they are testing around and mine being an 02 was too nice and new and expensive.

Just hope they've picked up a good car for the test - I'd hate to see the 3200 get a booting based on a car with outdated throttle / traction software...

Looks good. Interesting mix of machinery, what was the feedback on the Masser on the day?

It was a pleasure to meet other Drivers on the day and to witness the various vehicles on show.

I dont think the Photo's printed were that great to be honest and the layout of the article was far from impressive. Im not surprised the Maserati didnt go through and I wondered what we were doing there.

I thoughtthe NSX should have gone through as it is a fantastic car and the track experience in it put a massive smile on my face. (The excuse they gave Steve was a poor one but I will let him submit that info)

Driving the Maserati on the Track :

The Maserati was all over the place ! Good fun to see the Reporters fight with her once the ASR was turned off !
A rare chance to push the car without worrrying about hitting anything!
Great on acceleration but awful in the bends !
But then again its not a track car like for example the Lotus, NSX..

I also feel that Evo's info is somewhat inaccurate and the article makes it look like you can get the actual cars in the article for £20,000 and less which may be the case for the golf but not 3200 and this may also apply to the Stunning TVR and a few others.

But on the good side we got to meet some decent people and had a great laugh.

good to see the 3200, NSX and TVR etc in a test environment.

Not a lot of comments passed on the Maserati but the reporters had a big smile after driving her and commented on the agressive performance.( a positive thing I guess!)

All in all it was a good day and if it were me I would have added the NSX to the final choice.

To be fair to them I think PEtes car is running the latest software (or at least if should be having been sold by a main dealer.....)

Have to find out if we ever get our cars side by side!

Or anyone know how to find out the software version of the throttle control code?
