£10k+ to wrap a new car? I'd be keeping the colour I ordered too!
I was referring to the cost of the factory paint I had been quoted at 10-15k for different hues. A full wrap should be way less than that but I will start with the car white with the PPF and see how I go.Minnsy14 said:

I did the factory tour a few weeks ago and asked the chap in the Ad Personum area how much for your own paint. The price is about 15k euros. When you consider that you have to pay (I think) 12k Euros for a standard matt paint, it sounds like a veritable bargain! My one gripe I think is that at the moment the dealers don't seem to talk about Ad Personum - rather you have to know about it, ask and push it yourself. Maybe for my next one ;-)As to a mini meet - I'm game. I want to drive this car, its not going to be a garage queen, for sure. Cars are there to be driven!!!

That's awesome, I would have loved to have done the factory tour. Did you get to see your own car on the line?As to a mini meet - I'm game. I want to drive this car, its not going to be a garage queen, for sure. Cars are there to be driven!!!
Agreed if its your own paint to sample versus their standard offering matte paint then I don't think the uplift is that excessive. I just couldn't justify the cost for the amount of use my car will get and that's not due to wanting it as a garage queen but down to my working commitments overseas!
Whenever i'm in the UK you can be assured I will be using it as much as possible!

Sadly not - I think I was probably only about a day or two too early - maybe I saw my carbon fibre tub but just didn't know it :-( Everytime there was a grey Huracan Spyder on the line the tour guide stopped and checked the order number, but sadly not! The factory tour is well worth doing, however, but do make sure you get your dealer to organise it. The public one costs about 70 euros and I think only lasts an hour or so, not taking in the full shooting match. Whereas the dealer organised one was about 2.5hrs plus some museum time and I get the impression that you see a lot more. Interestingly the factory does charge the dealers for this - no idea how much, but not a freebie they readily dish out by all accounts!Agreed if its your own paint to sample versus their standard offering matte paint then I don't think the uplift is that excessive. Certainly sounds good. Thanks for the heads up, my dealer did offer arranging it for me but my work commitments wouldn't allow the travel. What did they tell you about how long it takes to build each car etc.?
Have you seen or considered any of the Academia driving tours? They look superb but certainly not cheap, I was maybe considering one for summer 2018.

- 35 days to build the car - so that's from creating a tub to exiting the factory.
- They produce 12 Huracan's per day and 5.5 Aventador's, but they seem to have got excited and are now doing 6 of the latter
- its really regimented on the line i.e. 37 mins for each car at each station for the Huracan, 2 x 11min coffee breaks etc... Compared to a volume production outfit though, I think it was pretty relaxed! Having coincided with an 11min break during my visit, it seemed to be that the reach for the mobiles was instinctive, but maybe that's just my observation on human life these days!!
- as soon as the car is off the line, they take it on the public roads and do 50km+. Then they bring it back, switch the tyres, do any adjustments, check the paintwork etc... before shipping
- they're bringing the paintwork in-house as the underlying message was that it took too long and quality standards were a bit problematic - perhaps having to send things back or re-do themselves
- a new line is being built in a new building for the Urus. They're recruiting another 500 staff for this, taking it to 2000 on site
Beyond that, you need to really see for yourself - or I'll spoil too much of it. Oh, and no photos allowed.
I did have a look at the snow driving, which looked fun - but then equally I wasn't compelled because of the price point on it. Perhaps another time... Craig has mentioned about the September driving tour he does - it won't happen this year for me due to work, but perhaps next year!
Final thought, have you put a deposit down for a Performante? I decided to on the basis that it is refundable. I'm less likely than likely to go ahead with it, but 'just in case'...

Thanks so much for the insight, it sounds very interesting and certainly something I will have to appreciate for myself during Lamborghini ownership.- 35 days to build the car - so that's from creating a tub to exiting the factory.

I agree the driving tours look very pricey and could be money better spent elsewhere. I was planning on a road trip into Scotland in July but that has now been cancelled due to change in circumstance. However, I may consider a blast over the Beacons and Evo Triangle as Wales isn't as far. Likely to be second week of July for an overnighter maybe.
I have enquired through my dealer about the Performante, they have confirmed their allocations for this year. I may put a deposit down on the Performante Spyder when I collect my 580.

- as soon as the car is off the line, they take it on the public roads and do 50km+.
The Huracan can display on the dash its highest historical speed until that is reset. When my car was delivered with 42 miles on the clock in April the max speed readout was 121 mph (which allowing for Lamborghini's optimistic speedo is probably equivalent to a little over 110 mph). That means the factory driver does give the car some beans on its initial test drive.

This year for a Performante? I was quoted 1/4 2 next year when I asked about 2-3 months ago!I agree the driving tours look very pricey and could be money better spent elsewhere. Hi Guys,
I am collecting a brand new Lamborghini Huracan at month end. Its my first Lambo and first supercar, excited is an understatement!
Anyway being somewhat inexperienced in these realms I was after any general advice for collection day. What should I look for? What can I expect from the dealer? Can others possibly share their experiences of a Lamborghini handover?
Many thanks in advance for your contributions.
Cant wait for the collection and praying for dry weather!

Cant wait to see photos and RWD will be a bit more fun!
Well collection happened yesterday!
Unfortunately it drizzled with rain most of the day, but that didn't detract from a fantastic experience and handover with Lamborghini Birmingham.
I was making my first visit to the dealership having completed the whole ordering process through email. Order to delivery took exactly 6 months and I must say when you can specify your own car from the factory exactly how you want, the wait is worth it!
Ellie was a pleasure to deal with and Chris (Dealer principle) was very welcoming and intent on ensuring my handover was flawless. I was treated to lunch and very nice coffee throughout my time their and even got a personal one to one with the G-Techniq product rep, who talked me through the best way to maintain my car with the ceramic coating as applied.
The paperwork side of things was very painless and efficient, again top marks to Ellie for having everything prepared.
I then had a great first drive home with my father in convoy driving my M4. The attention I got on the motorways was unreal and all very positive- people opening passenger windows and sticking heads out and thumbs up! Open mouth gazes from children and adults alike!
I will be displaying my car at Goodwood FOS on Saturday. Lamborghini Birmingham have been great in organising full VIP access for my father and I.
I literally spent the whole day shaking with excitement and had the sweaty palms! Even when I got home yesterday evening I just stood on the drive looking at the car for ages! I'm sure you guys understand haha.
Anyway I will now see if I can add some pics..
