It's my understanding that Mercedes have claimed that this is the F1 engine and drivetrain.
Not a derivative of, nor a development of. It's the actual thing.
Of course, certain elements have been modified to extend engine life but from what they've said, I expect it to be closer to a current F1 engine than, for example, the F50 was in it's era as that just carried a development of the F1 block IIRC.
If it were true that it's even closely related to the actual F1 engine then you can bet that Ferrari, Renault and Honda will all have their orders in for one so they can strip it down and see what makes a Mercedes F1 tick. Not a derivative of, nor a development of. It's the actual thing.

Where’s that bloomin Valkyrie?..
Delayed until 2021 now. Stroll mentioned it in the latest Aston earning call. I just posted up an article covering it.SSO said:

I just posted up an article covering it.Thing is, they're so far along in the process now that they could probably say to prospective customers "Look, if you want one it'll be £5/6/10m. It'll be the game changing car that will be the last hurrah of the ICE and will never be seen again, but we can't make them at £2m."
And I reckon they'd still get a large number of takers.

Ah man, if Valkyrie doesn't see the light of day it'll be a tragedy.

That won't help them if they can't make it driveable on the road, or stop if from overheating, or make it pass the emissions tests they need to even sell it as a road car. Or whatever the issues are beyond Aston's financial situation.Thing is, they're so far along in the process now that they could probably say to prospective customers "Look, if you want one it'll be £5/6/10m. I doubt it, I've already heard of a few people pulling deposits. Also with Red Bull and Newey no longer actively involved in the project, it's lost a major selling point.
All very valid points that I hadn't considered. Such a shame but understandable, a vanity project is far less important than getting a robust, saleable range again.Beefmeister said:

I think a lot of others would too.

Thought the article was quite good given the source
Curious about the 74db level - does for example a Ferrari V12 really come it at or below that level?

I’d say Mercedes you can be pretty confident they will finish it
