A guy I know used to make very good money exporting 599's from the UAE to Europe via the UK. He did so many that he had a stock of service parts and switchgear to prepare them before shipping. The local dealers woke up to what he was doing and out prices up to EU levels. He's moved on to FF's now. He also deals in other marquee and exported/ sold a lhd gtrs into the uk last year, turning 100k profit after all fees.

I'm not up in the process but I gather That if you can get a letter from the manufacturer stating the car was built in the EU using EU money then the tax implications are removed. I Also believe importing via the UK then into mainland Europe makes type approval etc easier than importing directly to the EU.

Great posts. Thank you.

Yes, i've seen some horrendous colour schemes. One recently was an LP560 in brown with brown and red interior.
Definitely not something i'd be bringing over here haha.

The headlights are the bits i'm looking into at the moment. Not sure a 2009 LP560 had the ability to change them LHD/RHD.

Gallardo headlights just need a minor adjustment to "point the right way". You don't need to buy "RHD" headlights-well wasn't the case on my S1 Superleggera.

I have driven LHD for over 20+ daily-including a single mirror Testarossa for 12 years (commutes in London, dump runs, shopping, etc). Just do you homework and find the right car. Forget the nonsense about you being a lesser owner for having a LHD car. I couldn't find the car I wanted in RHD form as at the time couldn't get the right car, LHD was where I went and its fine.

Just thought i'd give a little update.

We found a lovely 2009 Gallardo and my contact had been speaking to the owner and finally arranged to view the car.
Perfect spec/colour and a great Lamborghini history etc but it had clearly had a knock at the front so that's a no go.

Shame really as it would've been a perfect car to test.
The hunt continues.

Have a LHD F430 myself. Chose it because of the colour. I still haven't seen another F430 come up in the same colour since I bought it. The car came from Ferrari France in Nice.

I barely drive it around the UK and just do small runs now and then to keep the parts ticking over. The big trips take place in Europe where the car is in it's element. Big open smooth roads, lovely weather, less traffic and no lane hoggers. I would consider another LHD car purely for this reason.

Strangely enough in Japan, people choose LHD supercars even though it is a RHD country because of the status. I would totally buy a car from that country as the owners are meticulous about maintenance.

Another good post, thanks.

We may have a little bit of luck on our side. An F430 has just come back up for sale that we originally wanted to buy but missed out by a day.

He's going to go and look at it tomorrow but have already been sent photos and a video of a walk around in the showroom.
