Also definition of a troll is someone who puts another down or tries to be a bully or a general dick towards someone else!

Someone who’s asking advice isn’t a troll so in actual fact my friend you’re the troll

I don't think you need to justify yourself. As far as I am concerned the way you engaged with the questions showed you had given it a lot of thought and it was a genuine enquiry, and even if it isn't something you can do immediately, that is no reason not to ask such questions. And the other answers were informative to me too, so thank you for asking the questions.

To me a troll is very much a fantasist and time waster. You in other words. However, in the spirit of fairness, I'd like to eat my words and a slice of humble pie so will wait with baited breath for the obligatory custard shots...

Sometimes you do though! Clearly people don’t think other people’s situations can change! Last week I won 1300 on the lottery and was 1 number off 58 million so circumstances can change! With that thread in business I was going through a rough time at work and been taken advantage of! Also when I stated less than minimum wage it was over the hours I do as I’m salaried but if you took my salarie and divided it by the hours I actually did it worked out less than minimum wage! Thankfully after a good talk with my father and a threat of starting up on my own and potentially taking customers he made a deal with me! I’m extremely happy with that deal and it’s changed my life!

For the troll that’s trying to cause me trouble! I currently drive a golf gti pp (retailed at 37k) when I bought it for 30k! the RS3 with a £20k deposit comes out at £294 a month my golf gti is currently £330 so I’d be saving money actually and that’s on a 55k car

A Ferrari 360 at £79k or a f430 at 79k actually comes out at £500 a month and that’s with my 40k deposit if prices soften like a lot are expected to then it would be even cheaper!

Buying it is the easy part. Just keep a pot of cash put aside so you can maintain it

I’m budgeting to save £4K a year which gives me £2,500-£3,000 for maintainance with an extra 1k for contingencies

If something major goes like a gearbox I’d be pretty screwed if I got a 10k+ bill but I know a few decent mechanics and I like to have a go so if a clutch needed changing etc etc I’d be ok! Plus I remember a guy on here who said he thought he would have a go at working on his murci in his underground car parking space and found them simple to work on!

Remember when you were buying a new Porsche Macan last year... what happened there then? Or do you just like starting threads about cars, saying all the right things, yadda yadda and then nothing happens.

And I’m the bellend? Righto

Thread deteriorated a little

Just as an aside - the gearbox on my FF spilled oil all over the road last summer and had to be sent back to Italy - without a warranty that would have probably been a very uncomfortable bill. So it does happen and I am not sure I would want to run one of the older cars out of warranty if I could not pick up a 10k plus bill or do the work myself (which still leaves parts costs etc). It can end in tears even if over a longer period of time it will indeed average out at 3k. Also don’t forget something like a blown engine will more likely be multiples of 10k to get sorted.

You mean a macan I was looking to use for my commute and work which I had for a day and customers weren’t happy because the pub business is struggling so I went back to my rs3 plan as they blend in!

And now I’m looking at using a mondeo estate for my commute and work freeing up money to have a special car for myself!!!!! My customers wouldn’t get upset by a mondeo estate or a rs3 but they would get upset at turning upnin anything special!

This is the same reason why my dad doesn’t go to site in his Range Rover sport because it upsets ppl! He uses a Prius now or a Citroen Picasso as no one batters an eye!

Christ ol mighty mate! Connect the dots if you want to pull a thread apart!

Ghost...your golf lease has over a year to run? So now you’re buying a Mondeo and a manual supercar and still paying for the golf...

Again try reading!!!! My pcp is up next september to which I’m paying the golf off! My balloon is £11k the car itself when you look at the market will be worth 16-17k (I don’t want another!)

so, my options are use the money I get from the golf and add 3k to it and get a RS3 and use it as I use my golf for pleasure and commuting!

OR I let my work provide me a car ie a mondeo estate which means I have lots of money at my disposal I sell the golf which gives me 16-17k and I buy something special for myself which isn’t for work!

Rather than trying to be a dick I actually wrote all my plan out! Ffs!!!! So the mondeo would be owned by work but I would use it as I use my golf and my own personal car could be whatever I want and that’s why I’m looking at getting into something good

How robust are these cars? How often do people get big bills if they’re looked after

My F430 manifolds went. £7k bill plus from memory. Low mileage car, 1 owner car. One night the trickle charger decided to short and it ended up killing the battery. New battery and trickle charger and you’re looking at £700+.

If you’re scraping a grand here and there together to try and finance an ageing supercar you’re gonna get a proper fright when something goes wrong.

It’s not a case of scraping a grand here and there I just have other commitments as well! I’m doing my house up currently too, (booked in for a bathroom to be done first week of July) once I’ve got the car I’m able to put away between 500/1000 a month but I have a lot of plans for my house also so money is going everywhere atm as well as savings!

I'm not sure how a battery + trickle charger cost you £700 - you must have paid Ferrari tax. If my Ctek charger failed, a new one from Amazon is ~£50, and a battery is certainly not going to cost me £650 - I'd expect to be able to replace both charger and battery for under £200 in my 360.

You always need to be aware of big bills around the corner, but I wouldn't say they are all that common. I've had one service on the 360 that was ~£5k, but that was because I wanted every little thing sorted (and it was a cam belt service anyway) - so although it was a big bill, it wasn't due to some unexpected failure.
A budget of £2k-3K each year is probably OK but you definitely need some cash in reserve. My 360 had a cam belt service again this year - it needed nothing extra, but that was still £1775 which takes a big chunk out of your annual budget.
