Don't know that one but Colin McRae's black swiss reg RHD Murci was in Lambo Manchester yesterday being serviced. He'd earlier rung to ask if he could land his helicopter nearby.
Mines in for its 15000, I hope its less than £2K cos i've supplied them with the oil/plugs etc. They use Esso Ultron at £15 a litre! I bought 4 litres for £31.Plugs £20 each, I bought them for £9 each.
New Murcie roadster in there being prepped for delivery Friday, what a stunning car. Theres some lucky sod who wont be sleeping much before then

Good for you Simon, supplying the consuables. I would do this too at quoted prices, I can't imagine this is something they see too often at Lambo service centres.

Simon,

Hows the service going? Did you just supply plugs and oil - or other items as well??

Mine's in on Friday for it's 15000 mile service and a few warranty issues.

Got to admire you for saving a bit of money like that although its a bit unusual to spend that much on a car and then save money buying the service items yourself. Don't they mind?

No just supplied the plugs and oil - the plugs are pretty hard to get hold of though. Is yours going to Manchester? If it is don't drop me in it! I'm sure if you tell them you have the bits anyway, they won't mind. I was telling Simon the senior technician about your car the other day. He can't remember it being there. Collecting mine tomorrow - 15000 service is the most expensive one of all. If I wasn't going on Drivers Run on Thursday we could have met up there.

Simon,

No you're in the clear - mine's going to Lambo High Wycombe - they know the car and have already had one go at sorting the misfire - so at least they are part way through the "process of elimination" on the root cause.

Hopefully it will come back fighting fit with all horses present ! The guys at LHW reckon the engine in mine is a particularly fine specimen (when it's firing on all cylinders!) - the Tubi seems to have freed it up a bit (no doubt with the help of several thousand miles flat out!).

Trying to plan a Nurburgring trip at the moment to scrub the new tyres in!

Yea there will be something but don't know what yet..
The Ed is very aware of the 'hooray henry champagne reception' image a lot of these events have. The Drivers Run does seem to be a bit more serious though so it will be ok.

Dealers do themselves no favours taking the p*ss like that on parts costs.

Let's say the Murci takes 10 litres of oil for a change - 75 quid profit for nothing (and that's if the dealer pays high street prices for oil, which I doubt).

And they're making over 130 quid on plugs.

My guess is their labour rate is probably into 3 figures (+VAT) too, so it's not as if they wouldn't be making a serious profit on servicing even if they give you the parts at cost plus a small "stocking fee".

Lambo UK should be ashamed.

I'll never forget seeing your Murcie for the first time. Went into Leeds one Sat night and a parking spot outside the Living Room on Greek Street was coned off. I thought some tt will be parking his Bentley there later. Came back an hour later and this fuc***g great Orange Murcie was there surrounded by people! Looked awesome. Asked whose it was (cos mine was 3 weeks away delivery) - doorman said a guy called Griff.(the previous owner). I asked what he looked like and he said just go to the members bar and he'll be surrounded by birds! I did and he was!
The week later he parked in the same spot but a new doorman would'nt let him in cos of some wierd trousers he was wearing. So he opened the bonnet and got changed in front of everyone then walked straight in..
Total contrast to me, when I parked the Murcie in the same place the first time I tripped on the sill and fell onto the pavement in front of a queue. Second time I backed into the spot then ttted a Clio behind at walking pace! All I could hear was howls of laughter from outside. Ah well, we can't all be cool.

Simon,

LOL - I had a good laugh reading your post and find your honesty and humility refreshing. Think we've all had one of those moments in the past!

Yes the car does make something of an impact, as does, I'm sure, yours!

I've yet to see if it has a magnetic effect on the "birds"

"My Murci's due for a service. Here's the keys............ oh and by the way I've left some oil, plugs and filters in the boot which I got in Halfrauds, so no charging me for them at full whack, OK, sonny......"
