Not much good to you if it’s the shape you love though!
The Italian's attitude is the right one. The shape is Ferrari's design copyright and not for anyone to fake without authorisation. They should be crushed along with the fake Rolexes, Vuitton bags, Chanel perfumes.Behemoth said:

Duration of unregistered design rights.
Within the European Community, unregistered design rights lasts for 3 years from the point the design is first disclosed or made available to the public in some manner.
In the UK rights the duration is 10 years from the end of the calendar year in which the design was first made into a marketable product. The original date the design was first fixed in a tangible form is also taken into account, and the duration should not exceed 15 years from the end of the calendar year in which the design was first recorded.
The UK 10 year duration is split into two 5 year periods: Exclusive rights are retained for the first 5 years, but during the last 5 years other parties are allowed to apply for licenses to the design (for which the owner may claim royalties).
For UK designers, both the UK and EC rights can exist at the same time.
Think an SWB might be out of that 10 years by now...Within the European Community, unregistered design rights lasts for 3 years from the point the design is first disclosed or made available to the public in some manner.

Point taken. Any hint of a wing shield, logo or Ferrari script and off to the crusher it goes. Anyone driving one of these is a bit like my lad wearing his batman outfit. There are plenty of very beautiful original Italian cars from that era to suit all budgets.
It's a tough one this. Even when you know there's bugger all chance of your ever owning a real one, you'll always know it's just a copy.
I went quite a long way down the track to buying a 330GTO recreation, based on a 330 2+2. It was spectacular! Being based on the same underpinnings, it was as close to authentic as possible. Of course you add another zero to the price, but they only made two, so no chance of an original one. This one was made to an amazing standard, higher than the originals and by some margin. I was envisaging myself smoking around in it, having a very good time indeed. But. I just couldn't do it. Neither fish nor fowl, they're very hard to value as well.
In the end, I didn't come close enough to pulling the trigger, and if I had bought it, I'd never have got a Miura. So the right thing happened in the end. I think..

You did right. Far too many of those beautiful Series 1 330 2+2s were ruined to assuage the needs of wannabe GTO owners.I went quite a long way down the track to buying a 330GTO recreation, based on a 330 2+2. It will be when it's back from its restoration.. Last time I saw it in one piece was November 2017. It was the cheapest one in Europe because it was looking pretty tired and in need of TLC. Complete nut and bolt job coming to an end; tipping point is things starting to go back on around March. Then it will indeed be mega! But yes, the price of this and the 330 replica weren't that far apart actually. Just looked at your Muira in your profile.....wow...just wow! Stunning
On the 250 replica, I saw one at the Stonleigh show earlier this year and it was really remarkably good. Based on a Z3 and very impressive.
Interesting 250SWB for sale on ebay at the moment
A Tribute 250SWB, BMW Z3 based with a 2.2L (cheap to run !)
Looks well done, interior appears nicely finished
Looking in the boot, looks to be the original boot catch is half-way up the boot floor (?)
Also, there doesn't seem much solid stuff at the front should one have a frontal accident !

And a California Spyder with an optimistic price tag... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Immaculate-1960-s-Ferra...More pics as requested and one of the dashboard complete with Veglia type full working gauges as in the SEFAC ‘hot rod’ (over £2500 just for this but worth every penny when you’re driving it)
The pic with the rounders on the door is of the real thing, only another few million £’s more to save up! Beautiful though.

The black one is the proper way to present a homage car in my opinion, no claims to be another manufacturer via badging etc. In fact BMW roundels would look good on the car given that's the real underpinnings.
This is coming from someone who has been putting together their own homage car for some time, be proud of the achievement, not hide it under a badge to which the car has no link what so ever.

I do not mine either way...I agree the BMW badges would be fine and interesting but have no issues with the Ferrari badges either...after all that is what the Homage is to. I do not think it is the same issue as you get with an MR2 355 rep. This is coming from someone who has been putting together their own homage car for some time, be proud of the achievement, not hide it under a badge to which the car has no link what so ever.

This looks like the same car? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tribute-250-SWB-1960s-F... Honestly wasn't looking, but I made the mistake of clicking on one of the links above then ended up browsing ebay's 'other classic cars' section for a few hours. There's loads of weird and wonderful stuff on there too; definitely not one for a Friday night with a drink in your hand.. Just spotted this up for auction in a few days time: https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/saturday-2...
Only a 2.0L engine
Should be interesting to see if it gets anywhere close to the £58K low estimate
