Just because you cannot see it doesn't mean it's not true.

I never said there was.

But your figures suggesting the 570S was 8 seconds quicker than the 488 to 160mph are totally innacurate at 26 seconds and frankly ridiculous.
Then look at the link I sent you, where the info came from, little lad!

So now a Hurracan and possibly even an Aventador are not supercars

Riiiiiiiight ok then

You do realise that approximately zero percent of the global population would agree with that?
It’s called “consistency”. A supercar carries its tag forward. For example, there are hot hatches that will piss all over a Muira, but the latter remains a supercar for what it did in its time. It almost single-handedly redefined the performance road car.

I don’t think that the Gallardo deserves the tag “supercar”, it was merely a high-performance sportscar. Same goes for the Huracan. Ostensibly the same engine, a few years of chassis development and greater computing power to flatter the average owner.

And whisper it quietly, but the Aventador isn’t that great. Still, I’d happily go along with labelling the Aventador a supercar because it’s the top of the range Lambo. See, it’s nothing to do with performance (or Tesla, Caterham and Westfield would all be classed as manufactures of supercars) and everything to do with desirability, aspiration, exclusivity, rarity. Intangibles rather than numbers.

Too many people spend too much time concentrating on numbers. Does the car stir your soul?

The Aventador as a package is actually a huge joke.

Single clutch gearbox on a £300k car. Removable plastic squares as a roof on the Spyder. Overweight, horrific driving dynamics, minimal driver feedback, too wide.

Idiosyncratic in the extreme. If that's your thing. A classic case of imperfect imperfection as opposed to say the Miura which is perfect imperfection.

Aventador does sound good though. Even though like the Hurracan it has some fake sound. Which beggars belief considering it's fantastic n.a. engine.

Like the emperors new clothes you mean?
An interesting parallel with your halfords-ed up collection of Boxsters there!

Only got the 1 Boxster worth having....981 Spyder.

986 2.5 much purer to original concept & cable throttle too for extra purity, also has higher max speed with roof on. Spyder is stupid toy for Californians!

More sweeping generalisations and incorrect facts. rolleyes

You are hilarious.

If you are quoting facts please get them correct. Otherwise you look a bit of a tit.

Top speed of the 986 was 149mph.

Top speed 981 Spyder is 180mph.

You are confusing the 981 with the 987 of which the top speed was restricted due to the roof.

I don't know what roads you go tearing about on in the Yorkshire Dales terrifying local sheep and blowing debris all over t' lanes but in my book 149MPH is plenty fast enough TBH and what's more the 986 interior was completely consistent with the exterior and curvy retro design language - unlike the 981 interior which it trying to look like one of those tacky Vertu phones from the 00's with a million little fussy buttons everywhere.

981 Spyder you say? Electric steering not hydralic? And you're supposed to be a motoring purist! Might as well buy a Nissan Leaf. What a mediocre vehicle. My Smart Fortwo convertible is better than that. Can retract the roof at any speed up to the (limited) max of 96MPH. Much better.

Let's summarise:

Is 570S a supercar? Doesn't really merit a thread anyway
Immediately the Audi R8 comes under attack despite not being the subject of the thread
Then the usual pompous suspect(s) who allegedly own some expensive tarted up parts bin special 911's come in and declare everything but their cars to not be supercars as their cars perform 0-160 MPH one twentieth of a second faster
Then someone said cars such as 458's, Gallardos, Hurracans and even the V12 Aventadors, are not supercars

Sorry but if that's the level of discussion then the thread is a farce and should be treated as such!

Here's the 'non' supercar in question BTW. Its design and performance and pedigree are the embodiment of what the word 'supercar' means to 99.999999999% of the global population, the exception being 2-3 people on this forum

When I look at that I think Supercar.

When I look at GT2 I think 'amazing car, amazing performance'. Not Supercar to me though as it shares the body with many 911s and has too much Halfords tat on it (functional or not).

However beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't think many people are going to pick a 911 over a McLaren given a choice. They're too ordinary these days. 996's from £10k.

To be fair, the interior is certainly no Gigi Hadid.

Santa Pod numbers are good though.

P1

570S

I am not a fan TBH, but they're not really worlds apart and I bet you can spec more carbon on the 570S

In fact in some ways the 570S is better as it has a storage net by the passengers' foot handy for a bottle of water
