Is a McLaren 570s A Supercar?

On another note my wife also says an R8 is a supercar as she says how can that and the Lambo be all but identical apart from body and one be classed as supercar and other as not,
She also says with how an R8 looks it has the supercar profile!
Your wife has already pointed out the reason - Lambo is a supercar because it is a Lambo. Kids will have posters on bedroom walls and lust for it. The R8 on the other hand is an Audi. She also says with how an R8 looks it has the supercar profile!
You don’t have to agree with it but that’s how it works.
As for the original question - yes the Mac is a supercar.

No 911 is a supercar is a sports car, any McLaren is.
Try a GT2 RS then eat humble pie.
Like a 320D to a M3, it is just a faster version of the model, so it can’t be a super car unless all 911’s are, which they are not.
Aventador = supercar
458 = supercar
458 Speciale = super car as the ‘normal’ version is
No doubt the 911 GTxyz 123 is a fantastically capable vehicle, if not one of the best, but it is not a super car.

Agree with that, no way is it or any 911 a supercar. Porsche’s are too common, the shape is nowhere near exotic enough and the carbon roof and bonnet look wrapped. Like a 320D to a M3, it is just a faster version of the model, so it can’t be a super car unless all 911’s are, which they are not.

It may be fast but then so is a GTR
Porsche’s supercars are the 959, CGT and 918.

Top comedy.
Lots of drivel being spouted by several armchair experts.
So an R8 is a supercar but a GT2 RS isn't.
Hilarious.
I think you are missing the point, (imho a R8 isn’t).Lots of drivel being spouted by several armchair experts.

The GT2 RS is not a model in its own right, it is a version of a model, so unless the 911 is then the GT2 RS no matter how fast / able can’t be.
As above, a GTR is a phenomenal car, but it isn’t a super car.

They’re basically the same car apart from the body and badge You don’t have to agree with it but that’s how it works.

I think the R8 is a supercar in v10 format

What about a CLK Black edition? Or a M3 GTS? Or a GTR Nismo? GT12 Vantage? SL65? R8 V10? Etc. Posting super rare iterations of a model for me doesn’t qualify them as a super car, it needs to be a model itself, not this 1 of 5 ultimate spec of which 1% remains the same as the original car.
A 911 is just a 911 no matter what you do to it, if you have to explain ‘why’ it is a supercar version of the model then it just isn’t.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a Macan GTS, in the Porsche showroom they had a GT3 (I think Rivera blue and it looked amazing!), I said to my girlfriend that’s really nice isn’t it, she answered it looks like all the others with a big spoiler.
Now if that was any Lamborghini / Ferrari / Maclaren you wouldn’t need to explain the differences as to why that one and not the others are a supercar, hence not a supercar.
But this is a forum and we all have our own opinions!

Interesting. Would you agree the 959 was the first ever supercar?
No, Miura or GT40
(I'll let you have Miura and GT40 but on road a Mk1 Golf GTI really no slower - performance an important ingredient and yes they were quick in their time etc but not by our standards or even by the early 80s when Golf GTI came to our shores which turned fast motoring upside down. A modern day Golf would destroy them )
So just to throw this in the mix, if were to calling the V8 R8 a supercar, aren't we forgetting the BMW I8? I mean it looks exotic and is quicker too.
By deffinition they almost both are (imo supercar 0-60 time has to start with a 3 to even be considered) but then if we're going by deffinition the GTR is as well, it's only because it holds the Nissan badge that it's not regarded as one.
Then at the opposite end of the spectrum you have the likes of the Ferrari Gtc4 - is that really a supercar? because if it had a BMW badge it wouldn't be regarded as one either imo.
It's all a bit pointless imo, if you get a certain driving pleasure from your car whatever it be, what does it really matter if it is or isn't regarded as a supercar, do you buy the car to please yourself or to envy others with bragging rights?
