Looks like there will be a good turnout of Macs at this Sundays Wilton House Wake Up. 15 - 20 going from the MOC UK.
Yeah, posted a thread about this yesterday in the Events section. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Nice to know a few Macs are going, might pop along myself.

I thought you’d turned a corner as you’ve managed a few posts recently without mentioning MOC UK. Seems you have fallen off the wagon. From another post, you said: “I even joined the owners club (but felt distinctly uncomfortable with the principle of having to send a copy of your V5 to establish your worthiness) so never really engaged with it but what I did see looked pretty cliquey if I’m honest and definitely not for me”
You forgot to mention: The £50.00 subscription fee is a total rip-off - The amount of free and credible support / advice on-tap is terrible – UK and International road-trip / driving events are so boring – Regular guided tours of the MTC are worthless – Membership discounts are rubbish - The annual ball is a farce – Organised McLaren track days are pathetic – Club invitation to join McLaren at the Goodwood FOS is appalling - They couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery etc. etc. etc.
My view of the MOC UK is very different to yours. The MOC UK is a fantastic club managed by enthusiasts who want to see the McLaren brand go from strength-to-strength, whilst also having a lot of fun at the same time. There are many members of the MOC UK who give up a lot of time and commit personal expense to attend events, many of which are for various charities. The Wilton House event is for Salisbury District Hospitals Charity
To get the best out of the MOC UK, you need to engage with it, and that’s why it was definitely not for you. No doubt some of your cliquey McHaters will be along shortly. Keep engaging with that keyboard.

I think the event on Sunday should be larger. Doors open at 08:00 but most aim to be there earlier to try to get into the courtyard area to park up together into respective clubs and groups, rather than parking on the grass beneath the trees.
Some pics from the June event. See you there.

Are you this defensive in real life? Seems like you are completely incapable of taking the slightest jibe without flying off the handle, so I can totally understand how you got banned from here recently. Maybe PH isn’t for you?

Whilst I don't agree with how MAC often posts his opinion - what can't be denied is the bloke is total McL enthusiast (I can relate to that ) and has rather enlivened the McL P/H forum - I do share his frustration when the same predictable trolls come calling.

Are you an antagonist in real life DT? - your whole reason for posting on this particular part of P/H seems to be to wind McL owners up. Why are you trying to derail this thread?

No Matty, generally not but I’ve just got a bit irritated by some posters’ incessant attempts to sanitise, compartmentalise and generally otherwise control the content of this section of the forum. I’ve said before that the endless posting on values was daft and I was lucky enough to be called “a reasonable chap” for it (lucky me!) but we all get frustrated by things and the endless spamming of MOC UK does it for me! Anyhow, thanks for intervening and asking a sensible question instead of just ranting away. I’ve made my point and I’ll leave it now. Enjoy your Mclaren in good health :-)

I was there in June for the Best of British event - a real eclectic mix of cars. Very good turn out and all money collected goes to a local hospital charity.

Thanks DT and sorry for my post - as reading it again it appears that I was being antagonistic - which wasn't intended, my apologies

Good turn out despite the monsoon early on.
Nice to meet MAC 720S too - Mac turn out was rather impressive.
Funny moment was when the Performante left, gave it a few beans and a small child burst our crying from the noise. Ok not(ish) funny and her ear drums were Ok but surely small ears at exhaust level at a super car meet = ear plugs?

Well, it was an early start for me, setting the alarm for 05:00 then on the road for 05:45, arriving at Wilton House for 07:30. Conditions on the way was a mix of dry and very wet roads. Piloting a 700+ BHP rear wheel drive car can be a little bum hole tightening on wet and slippery A roads through Wiltshire. I’ve covered over 8K miles in the car since I purchased it four months ago in April 2019, but it’s the first time I have driven it in heavy rain. The rear got a little twitchy on standing water.
Apart from some heavy rain to begin with, the skies eventually cleared, and the event became very enjoyable. Lots of Joe Public came to visit, so not just about a bunch of car nerds talking pistons and turbos. For me, the best part is about sharing the experience with people who come to visit. I always lift the doors and invite those showing an interest if they want to sit in it and take photos. Somehow, I ended up directly next to the main entrance into the courtyard, so it was like a continuous fairground ride and even had a mother with young baby on her lap sat in the driver’s seat. Mats, carpet and door sill got covered with mud, but hey, it’s only mud. To see the excitement and smiles makes it all worthwhile.
There was a fantastic array of cars there, including a beautiful F40. It is rare to see an F40 at this type of event. If the owner is on PH – Thank you for sharing it - Respect!
Good to put some faces to names and had a good chat with PompeyReece and his Fiancé. Hopefully he will become a McOwner within the next few months.
The McLaren Owners Club UK had a fantastic turn out of members cars. I counted at least 15 x Macs, mainly lined up as a ‘guard of honour’ either side of the main entrance to the courtyard, where more Macs were waiting inside. Also had bacon butties and refreshments laid on free by the MOC UK.
All-in-all, a fantastic £3,192.35 was raised within a 3-hour period for the Salisbury District Hospital Charity, being the most raised at one of the Wilton House car events. Well done to everyone who attended.
