I think you will find it was more along the lines of...
Mine went in for it's 6250 service at my main dealer and I got it for £600. Ok, i was getting some paintwork done at the same time, but still a fair deal I thought.

A friend bought a 348, took it for a service and got charged 7K when they found it had a pretty major fault (at a ferrari dealership) -

Well remember that the 348 replaced the 328, so it will be a little more up to date. It may well be a tad more reliable and cost effective. It'll probably be cheaper, as the 348 is (undeservedly) a little unpopular - mainly imho as it was quickly replaced by the (very similar) 355, which was such a successful car.
I just love the 328's looks, and in many ways it (and the 308) are the link between the older more classic Ferraris (246 etc)and the newer ones.
I can't see that you'd even speak of a Boxter in the same sentence as these cars though ..... 348 for me every time !

would love a 348 instead of my Boxster S but I only have one car, its parked on the street and it needs to be as happy tripping to Sainsburys thru London traffic as blatting around deserted countryside - so hardly comparable cars except in price really
From memory weren't the 348 highly criticised when they came out (think it was the unpredictable handling)? Can someone confirm what the alleged issues actually were? Were they overly criticised? I'd always assumed that was why it was regarded as "unpopular" and why the 355 was deemed such an improvement.

A lot of people think the 348 is badly made, crappy handling, unreliable electrics and looks horrible.
But it had rave reviews when it first came out.
"Should the man who wants to spend £76,000 on a motor car buy a 348 tb? The answer is yes, yes and yes a thousand times..... If the car had been good, or even very good, that would have been enough, but the car is in fact a sensation. It makes a laughing stock out of the Honda NSX and as far as the BMW 850 is concerned, well, this is like watching one of those nature programs when a whale eats a plankton."

Someone said that on the limit it was like having Satan sat in the passenger seat every so often prodding you with his spear... or something equally dramatic.
So how often do you propose taking a car that is so poised and neutral, to that limit? I have only ever lost it once, going round the right hander at the bottom of the Bruntingthorpe straight, mainly because I was trying to take a 95mph corner at 100! and when it went... did it snap like a whip... did it hell, it just went a bit, then a bit more, then oh bollox too far!
I went on a Ride Drive course with a Police Advanced driving Instructor, and after 5 mins he said, the car feels fantastic, very flat, very neutral, very well balanced.
You try doing donuts on dry tarmac... near impossible without setting light to your tyres they grip so much.
and anyway, if you want predictable by all means, buy German
