Thanks for all the reply’s folks.
I have had some warranty prices back
And McLaren are saying 2500 for 570s
And around 1200 for a service.
Rybrook McLaren
Audi R8 £850 for 24months warranty which to me seem very cheap am I missing something?
And £440 for a inspection and service again seems very cheap. Synter Audi
That’s half the running costs per year on an R8 vs McLaren which to me just speaks out get an Audi.
I do get the r8 isn’t quite as flashy as the main brands. Which to be honest I don’t mind.
Have had a Porsche before in Miami blue and that was badly vandalised one night why just sat on my drive.
So although I love nice flashy cars. I am not fully sure I want something that stand out a million miles. Although it will be garaged now
Have to say 850 for 24 months warranty is cheaper than my Boxster, which makes me seriously think about the R 8, that’s incredible value if correct, think I’ll start browsing for one, I sold my 360 last year after owning it for seven years, not a bad car at all, but it did cost me a couple of times big time.I have had some warranty prices back

I think the 360 manual will become a sought after car.
Some more real world experience. I have had a manual 2005 F430 for 10 years and it has been serviced every year by our local main Ferrari dealer. I have had every piece of work recommended by them done and I have never had a warranty. I do between 1,000 and 2,000 miles per year (I have 3 other weekend toys before you all start complaining about low mileage) including a couple of track days here and there. I have every invoice and have spent just over £9,000 on 10 annual services and just under £3,000 on repairs of which at most half would have been covered by a comprehensive warranty. In addition, I have had a new set of tyres and a respray from stone chips (i got it ppf’d immediately after).
Little update.
I went to my local Audi and Ferrari place today. Didn’t have a test drive just spent a while sat in them to see how I felt. The F430 did feel very special to be sat in but did find the offset pedal position did upset my back a little and I can imagine over a decent drive I would be very uncomfortable
The Audi had the bucket type seats in and from what I have read can be uncomfortable. I did however find them quite comfortable and very supportive. Had a great driving position with really good visible. The virtual cockpit is a lovely thing to look at.
The warranty isn’t £850 as they stated I’m email it’s actually £2900 for the top warranty per 12 months. Which to be honest I wouldn’t bother with and just keep some money in the bank.
I need to try do some research on the must have options

My experience of a F430 Spider F1 is that they are generally low cost to run and even though they are a bit dated, they still turn heads in a way that any other cars don't. Ferrari has a special brand. I've loved my F430 Spider and with a few mods you have a great looking and sounding car. It's fairly comfortable for long trips and puts a smile on my face every time i drive it.
I went for the Gallardo as my first supercar and i don't regret that decision! It sounds amazing,it has the look,it has the badge and not that expensive to run.Probably just a bit more expensive than an R8 as a major service is 2k every 2 years.Had to do the clutch but already knew that when the car was bought. It has depreciated since i've bought the car 3 years ago but not that much..i would reckon around 15k.I don't see them going that much lower now so you should be really safe in one. It's a sense of occasion and people love lambo's especially kids plus you will meet all the lambo owners and many many lambo convoy!
One thing i would say is you will need to get it wrapped or some sort of ppf at least at the front as they do get some stones!
Had some amazing trips over the channel and never had a single issue..fingers crossed!

R8 does seem crazy VFM for that money. Can't believe they're so cheap.
It's an Audi.Excellent and capable cars though.
Or, exercise some patience.
Job done

I bet you'll lose £15-£20k on an £80k R8 over the next 2 years
I am thinking the same. How much do you think an £80k Gallardo or F430 would depreciate over the next 2 years in comparison? As has been said earlier, depreciation is only one metric and you need to look at the overall cost of ownership over the period. The potential for significant unexpected bills on a 3 year-old R8 will be much lower than for a 15 year-old Ferrari for example.
I owned a 430 Spider for 5 years and it was immense. Hardly any trouble at all.
Had a Gallardo Spyder for a year now.
Both epic cars, noise is tremendous and really you can’t go wrong with either. Get a PPI and that’s that.
Personally I would not go for an R8 as I don’t think they are as special.
I’d maybe go for a Mac 570s Spider next once I’m done with the Lambo.

Less, but it's hard to tell. The whole market is going to continue to soften for a while I'd say.The newer supercars, Huracan, 458/88 etc have been produced in much greater volumes so you'd expect them to depreciate at a faster rate. And then it depends on how whether the new models are a lot better or the older models more desirable... 355 for example

Surprised little mention of Astons. DBS, DB9, Vantage v12, and not far off Vanquish prices.
All great V12 engines. Not that own one but looking to buy - also a Ferrari 599 is not far off 80k.
Find the R8 just an Audi tbh
I think you have to 'want' an Aston to consider one if you know what I mean. Great cars and the last Vantage will go down in history as one of the best looking cars ever, but they are starting to look dated IMHO. Given what the OP's criteria is, the new Vantage is just dipping towards his price bracket and that looks much better value than an older V12.All great V12 engines. Not that own one but looking to buy - also a Ferrari 599 is not far off 80k.

The other option would be the Mercedes AMG GT, the same stonking turbo V8 as the Vantage and equally as dramatic looking. If the reliability and image of the Audi R8 appeals, so should the AMG GT.

Theres a good chance of this but id expect closer to 10K purely down to the fact the Gen 1 V10's will back them up a little. An early V10 R8 surely wont drop below 40k unless leggy cat cars? so then you have the FL and the plus etc will always be worth 50k? Swings and roundabouts, I'd hazard a guess the exotica are more likely to cost you more in maintenance but less in depreciation
