My Pantera was hired for another photo shoot for a fashion clothing line about 10 days ago. In a driving rain storm here in Los Angeles, I drove the car about 15 miles to the warehouse destination in an industrial part of downtown L.A. It was a nerve wracking expedition, but I made it, and the photographer and clothing company exec told me that they loved the pictures and the car and that they would be using it again. I snapped a few photos when I had a chance.

Hi tberg, Been watching your terrible weather you have had in California ,didn't make me feel so bad about being in the UK

but i expect it is back to normal now with the sun shinning.

Not sure if i would have wanted to take that beautiful Pantera of yours out in that storm but i suppose you had no choice ,you couldn't let

the fashion company down,

I have done similar shoots with my cars ,TV programs ,adverts and the odd school prom or wedding, some as a favour to friends.

Quite a lot of stress and responsibility especially here in the UK with our long winters but good fun when it goes well ,

also nice meeting interesting people. Hope you are all keeping well.thumbup

Hey ratrod 2,
After so many years of hearing how we were in a drought condition, rationing our water, banning grass lawns, etc., it's kind of fun seeing this amount of rain and not having to listen to the drivel about how we're in the driest cycle in history (utter nonsense). But, Los Angeles and its drivers are not used to wet weather driving, and the housing developments that hug every hillside in the local mountains are subject to lots of mudslides. We are expecting another large storm coming on tomorrow night through Wednesday that will dump another 5" or so of rain in a very short period of time. It has been a cooler January/February than i can remember in recent history. We always seem to get some 90*F weather during those months (at least in the San Fernando Valley part of L.A.) but not this year. Temps hovering around 70-75* when it's been dry. The good thing is that my 80 year old orange tree after a couple of very small crops over the last 3 years is back to its 4000-5000 fruits output that it has had for decades. It likes the rain very much. And my grass has never looked this good. Traversing the famous canyon roads from the Valley into Beverly Hills or Westwood, like Laurel Canyon, Coldwater Canyon, Beverly Glen and Benedict Canyon have been daunting and sometimes impassable over the past couple of weeks, but soon we'll be having the soaring heat we're known for, and we'll have forgotten all the wetness. The invitation is still open anytime you want to come. Plotting out our Sunday car meet choice now with my friends just in case the storm comes in a day late and it's clear Sunday morning.
Stay well.

Hi tberg, Yes it must make a change for you guys to see rain, with probably 9/10 months of it last year it can get a little tiresome,

We had a hot and dry June last summer and there was talk of a hose pipe ban ,yes after all the rain we had before that.

The grass was turning yellow and looked more like straw then it started to rain in July and August with a mini heat wave in

September with 35c at the Goodwood Revival, Only lasted for about a week though.

At least you know that once the rain stops you can rely on a sunny outlook .

Thank you once again for your kind invitation .may surprise you and myself one day and turn up,

Would be nice to go out in a Panters again. All the Best Ratrod.

Two Sundays ago at a park very close to my home, the annual Best of France and Italy Car Show took place, and seven Panteras turned out. Smaller turnout than usual but still exciting to see. Even my next door neighbor brought his '73 (the bright blue one in the pictures), and he never takes his car out of the garage. Jay Leno and his friend came by and talked for a couple of minutes about Panteras. He's apparently had some issues with his. Huge attendance at the show which is always a great spectator event.

Lovely stuff, tberg. Thanks for sharing.

The light blue Pantera has a huge bumper on the front. Would the owner be permitted to remove it to restore the "un-bumpered" lines? And, more to the point I guess, would they like to?

Hi tberg, nice to see you are still doing shows , Hope you are all well,

Glad you are still flying the De Tomaso flag, they hardly ever get a mention on this forum, well not until you make a post that is.

Miss my cars especially the GT5 , got as many looks in that as my Countach and was often mistaken for one by none petrol heads

until they saw the badge then just looked confused ,that never happened with the Pantera L, having it's own original look.

Try not to get to sun burnt in that California sunshine sun while we wrap up for our forthcoming winter,

Had the old cat out this morning for a show. I'm trying to make up for lost time during the first 18 years I owned the car as I could barely drive it if I could even get out of my driveway.
After the last couple of very (for us) wet winters, who knows what this one will bring. The invitation is still always open, and we've got a lovely guest room. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. We have Thanksgiving coming up in a week and a half, and this year I have plenty for which to be thankful. My children and grandchildren are all within walking distance, and they'll all be at our table on Thanksgiving evening. What more could you wish for?

Again thank you for your kind invitation therg,

Yes must be lovely to have your family so close to you,

Mine are not to far away especially as my daughter has returned after eight years in Canada ,

Our last summer was bad but this summer was even worse having very little sun and quite wet,

Didn't get to as many shows as i would have liked to,very frustrating after waiting all through what seemed a very long winter.

Hey Ho !! no surprise there ,we live in England .

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas,

After visiting my daughter in Turks and Caicos Islands via Miami a day before Thanksgiving weekend

i was amazed at the amount of people on the move in the airport to visit their relatives all over the States,

Until then i didn't realise how big and important Thanksgiving was to you guys,

Have a good one thumbup

Still Mulling,
My neighbor's blue Pantera has the large black bumpers because his car is a 1973 model which in the US was the first year of the required 5mph no damage bumper. In mid year 1972, De Tomaso changed from the small bumperettes of the original cars to the bigger bumpers in anticipation of the requirement a few months later. My next door neighbor bought his Pantera new in 1973, and it's an all original car, so he doesn't wish to change anything on it, though many Pantera owners of the later cars have removed the bigger ones and have exchanged them for the smaller ones. Obviously, I preferred the smaller ones when I went shopping for mine more than 30 years ago.

Thanks, tberg. I did wonder if originality was a key driver for the owner smile

Sold at Hampson's Auction for £70,875 including commission on Sunday,

Not silly money considering the £200,000 plus being asked for the winged GT5 S cars,
