Historically the trade would often put a car through auction because it wasn't of retail quailty. I appreciate that circumstances are currently different in that CC is an outlet to clear some good stock during lockdown but I wonder what will happen when all retailers open their showrooms again.

Will buyers revert to visiting showrooms and selling prices on CC then reduce to closer to trade? Or is the momentum achieved by CC set to continue and some retailers just sell through CC with no showroom or warranty costs? I guess part of the answer depends on what percentage of CC lots are bought by collectors adding to their portfolio compared to those wanting to px and have finance and warranty provided in the package.
I think it will continue to grow...just look at Bring a Trailer in the US. It’s clearly a much bigger market but they have some expensive and rare cars going through...they have a Premium option with videos etc which I am sure CC will do at some point.

Another Pista coming which seems to have leapfrogged a lot of other cars with auctions about to start. HK supplied car (But first registered in UK) which judging by the price of HK cars advertised on PH may mean it should be cheaper ?

yeap, last nights tweet from a certain mr C. Harris about Pista's 'heading south of the summer' indicated the imminent appearance of another on the CC auction site. Not sure that is entirely positive social media PR for the seller, but what do i know, no doubt it's a dealer selling and this has all been worked out in advance. I've heard rumours of an increasing amount of sales going thru without any commission, ie trade to trade, so i am sure the current mantra is to keep the CC platform as visible as possible, and each sale is seen as a positive. The whole CC model to me just feels a bit 'smoke and mirrors', but i suppose that is auctions for you. And i have bought on it, and paid my £600 dues.

Lamborghini Birmingham have a yellow Performante on for £165k. Its slightly higher milage. 8,290 miles instead of 3,114 miles, but I would rather buy from a Lambo main dealer with warranty than privately via an auction site.
Huge relative difference in mileage and on vehicle such as the Performante this clearly has a big impact on value.

No-one is forced to buy on CC, so I assume buyers are happy at the price they bid. I don’t imagine many sellers are disappointed with prices.
So, it’s working pretty well!

There were two Ferrari's sold on CC a month or so ago - a Red 575 and a silver 612 that went for quite sensible money. i.e What they were worth.

They were both from Kent High Performance Cars (aka The Ferrari Centre).

I was talking them about this when I was trying to do a deal on a 550 last month. They said they'd struck a deal up with CC when the lockdown started and committed these two cars through it - but they wouldn't do anymore, mainly due to the numbers they made.

So CC was clearly courting trade sellers in some way.

DK Engineering sold a 991.1 GT3 RS through them too. Dove House have sold several Porsche’s through them. All about getting critical mass demonstrating they can shift cars !

My guess is they split the buyers commission with the trade sellers.

It’s been taken down. I’m pretty sure it’s the same car that was offered via a FB forum about 10 days ago and he wanted £310k iirc.

^^ yup - agree with that. Definitely a bit of "volume" going through. I think we said a few pages back that they would need to watch the quality of their stock...

Oh dear...one Pista gets sold outright before the auction closes and the other disappears before the auction even started.

In my opinion if it’s an auction site you need to take the cars through to auction otherwise you lose your USP....the other one looks like they’re rushing things and making mistakes.

I've been looking a CC with a view to changing my car, as a purchaser that is, but it has made me seriously consider selling my current car via them also. I don't want to trade my car, and take a serious hit on the value via that method, but I realise that cash buyers at the 50K+ level is a different proposition.

Any opinion or thoughts? Its a 991.1 C4S at 28k miles with a decent spec if it makes any difference

Seems to me that lately CC have resolved to taking any old tat; that 2.7 Boxster that finished tonight for a touch over 7k looked like it was fking filthy, a trade scutter st tip. They couldn't even be bothered to clean it properly for the photos. 7k was all it's money and then some, with the fees and the work that needed doing to it, you can buy better. Likewise, coming up, a Polo GTi ... really? Some E60 M5s, a 996 in the most questionable colour made, a Phaeton .. whatever next? A "classic" Mondeo ST220?
That 987 looked pretty clean to me? It wasn't absolutely immaculate but what do you expect for £7k?

The other cars you list are genuinely interesting cars. If CC becomes solely a 'supercar' (ugh) platform then it becomes boring.

Don't see the problem in this - everything you've picked up on is fairly interesting. It's not like they're churning ex-fleet 320ds.

If you think Polo GTIs and Phaetons are 'interesting' then we're probably not on the same page, but my point is that we started out with some rare/interesting cars; they don't have to be supercars or expensive to be interesting, but E60 M5s are not rare, bog standard 996s and Boxsters are not rare etc.
I think anything with a 6L W12 is "interesting", but not perhaps as "interesting" as what this will go for

I've had some st cars over the years but even I wouldn't spell it out like this.

Is the soon-to-be-listed Espada not worthy of the website because it's filthy?

It's obviously a matter of taste as to what one finds interesting but that proves the point that CC is catering to all sorts and is better for it. I'd rather see a weird green 996 than yet another Performante or R8.

I do agree that a lot of the registrations offered recently are awful, however.

But he's trying to run a business, not keep us entertained during lockdown.

I think the new owner probably got a good deal on that. Apparently awful to drive with a heavy clutch and steering - but totally iconic nonetheless.

Sounds like a bad deal to me.

I'd rather have bought some shares if I wanted an investment, or bought a Huracan if I wanted a lambo to drive.
