Jake enough already about the R8, I don’t actually care if its not a super car. But honest mate I am going to take more notice from someone who has driven more super cars and hyper cars in his life selling them around the world than someone who owns a R8 and debate.’

Enough said. Reading though what everyone has contributed and people I have spoken to its not impossible to buy a supercar without being a millionaire or a high flying job as long as you work hard, proprietary on the things you need like paying for a house first and if you can afford the payments even fiancé the car. Looking on the web super cars no matter how much you drive them allot of the popular cars don’t lose money for the amount of km you put on it as long you don’t make silly modifications to it.

Where I am based there are only a few Ferraris and Lamborghinis listed for sale in my country and this does not relate in anyway to Covid 19.

Currently for sale is 26 Lamborghinis

The cheapest Huracan is 2015 10,000km at $255,00
2015 Huracan Lp610 23,000km $280,000

47 Ferrari

Cheapest F-430 is a a 2008 with $175,000
Cheapest California is a 2010 with 30,000 km for $153K

These are the prices you have to deal with and these are all private and not from a dealer. With a bit of haggling I guess you might get some off but the likes of Canada and the USA well you can see why you work allot harder for entry level super cars.

I would have said many supercars are very mileage sensitive. Far more so than normal cars. But less sensitive to number of owners, as they are widely expected to be owned for relatively short periods of time before being passed on.

Pick right however and depreciation can be far less than buying normal cars and so when you factor in the overall cost of ownership it could be cheaper to run a Gallardo for three years than an new RS3. You would still need more money up front, but you'll get a larger portion of that money back when you trade it in.

I don’t agree with mileage as most supercars are mileage sensitive,

Which country are you from and what is your age out of interest

Kids are expensive. My finance guy said one of the most popular personal loans he does is for kid's private education, followed by cars. £6k a term soon adds up, double that if they're boarding!
1 x school term = 2 x supercar annual maintainence

You'd think kids would appreciate it biggrin

For me

Don't have kids
Marry someone who has the same earning capacity as you, (so your not supporting them)
Don't spend cash on st you don't need
Don't make st life choices.(and if you do learn from them don't keep making hem)

The difference between me and many of my friends is they've all failed at one or more of the above
1. I have 3 boys and they cost me a fortune
2. I have a wife who doesn't earn a penny
3. We constantly buy stuff we don't need
4. I've made plenty of bad life choices

I don't call this failing. I'd say 1 and 2 are the direct opposite of failing. I'd give up everything I own (inc. my cars) for them

Fair play lad, good luck saving your pocket money up for your Jeep supercar.

Exactly the same here. Never been into anything 'designer' or from Apple, a Beko washes clothes and keeps food cold just as well as a Miele, and why would you want to look at the inside of your fridge from your phone?

OK I did waste a few quid racing motorcycles when I hit 30, but soon realised if I wanted to be humiliated by young men in leather then there are clubs in Brighton where it is much cheaper (and the bruises don't last as long).

We had a house sale fall through and ended up with a Bridging loan for 8 months that cost more than my takehome (base rate was about 7% I think so it was steep). When the old house sold we realised we could live on one salary and chucking 4 figures a month into savings adds up over a decade or 2.

Going from “how do I save for a supercar” to “I just bought a Lambo” in around a week is impressive even by PH standards of financial outperformance.

Have you never fiance a car before ? Super cars are the same as any other cars if you have a good credit history and job. I asked the question because I want to know how do people save up for super cars. Maybe there is a better way ? If you own a house paid off and have a good credit history with a good deposit and reasonable money coming in it can be done. If you think i cant cause of lock down where i am based there is no longer lock down. Just cant leave the country that is all. Still can do everything else. If you look on the web most people fiance super cars how else can they afford them. The next thing is time. Dealers don't want to hang onto $$$ cars for too long it costs them money. You turn up on a car that has been sitting for a while and offer them a good price yeah they will budge.

Wow Jake, I can really see what kind of person you really are when you comment like a child well done. You are so stuck in your ways. Pocket money for a Jeep ? You really have no clue about Jeeps and that fact that the track hawk costs more than a R8 and much faster and for people who don't like show off cars its the perfect.

Talking about pocket money I was just about to announce I bought a second hand Lamborghini Hurican today. Right price, perfect condition and no not a look a like. Working hard and saving and not buying stuff you don't need can get you into a super car. I am stoked. If anyone wants to tell them how i manged it let me know below.

Glad you have bought one old pal, I think it's spelled 'Huracan' though no? You can just look on the box that it came in to check.
Enjoy your car & well done on solving the financing issue & saving up so quickly.

You know something, I thought you guys were car people who shared a passion for motor vehicles and share your passion with others. Is it jealousy for the reason you laugh at others because they have managed to work for something they want and you cant ? People have the right to there own apion and maybe I am not the best at spelling and my spell checker auto corrects and spells it different. If you want to mock or spit on peoples dreams and success go ahead it just shows what kind of people you are, just because what car you drive or who you are does not mean they should be treated any differently. All I wanted to do was share a passion for cars and find out how do you save for super cars. They did not mean I had $100 in the bank and thought if I put $10 away. Have I been waiting a week fk no, For you guys that laugh, mock what you want there are two people in life doers and dreamers. The ones that laugh you guys are dreamers the ones that window shop and could not afford the wiper blades. This is my last post I have said what needs to be said.
