The most dangerous place to look for advice on supercars as investments, a car enthusiast site on the internet.

That is nuts!

R8 Gen 1 V10 Rtronic, 25k miles, spyder, 2011 car, FASH etc etc. I paid £45k from a dealer in Jan. I can't find a match for less than £55k at a quick glance now.
To be fair, yours sounded a bargain at £45k in Jan.

The market is just as crazy in the eu at the moment..

I’ve been trying to buy an S63 cabrio for 6 weeks for family hols in july & I lost 5 cars over that period due to being guzumped smile never known anything like it, i’m used to negotiating & achieving good prices on cars and selling on with little to no loss.

I had to pay through the nose for the S63 cabrio i picked up in the end last week, admittedly its lhd so hold better value anyway, but still..

Conversely i have a rhd AMG GT based in the uk that i paid 80K for from a main dealer 1year ago and today its worth £10K more! so i guess that helps balance things out for the man maths.

little point in getting hung on things though because ‘Time’ is unquestionably the most valuable item on this planet, dont waste it worrying about if its the ‘right’ time to buy, the right time is today and get on with enjoying your car.

In answer to this thread …….yes ….

Bought 3 cars in the last year or so and sold each for profit despite having put miles (1-5k) on all of them, including a Mclaren…..no one was more shocked than me about that.

Never known anything like it……

The accurate title for this thread should be; 'does your cash buy less than it used to..?'
Question is whether the inflation is temporary or permanent.

Most sensible comment on this thread by far.

Unless you've been under a rock the last year, this isn't unique to supercars.

Everything seems to be going up in price at same time as customer service is going backwards and I dont believe its still all covid related but large companies changing their business model to improve profitability and reduce costs

Agree with this especially regarding Customer service being pretty non-existent.

On the quality of the service you get with franchise dealers has anything changed?

A majority of car sales people are hopeless.

A lot of the service you get on the service side is also hopeless.
Including the endless “duty of care” calls about mots, service etc - it’s not a duty of care call, it’s a sales call…….

And the thing I find really galling is that the whole merry dance is dressed up in a ludicrous veneer which is supposed to demonstrate efficiency and customer care, whilst sitting in a completely pointless mausoleum. All of which I know I’m paying for.

I was talking generally and not specific to motor industry an dealers.
It seems to be across the board that businesses are taking an opportunity to review there business model to get more for doing less.
Personally I dont think all this working from home helps efficiencies at all quite the reverse IMHO

Well, that sounds great! :-) I just bought on impulse.
