355 tyre choice
Discussion
Have just bought a 355 berlinetta F1 and the rear tyres will need replacing in about 1k miles. It has
P zero 265 ZR40 R18s on the back and I was just wondering if there was a better all round choice for the road? I always fancied Yokohama's. You guys know all there is to know about Ferraris from what i can tell, so any advice gratefully recieved. hopefully I'll be in a psition to help others one of these days!

Firstly, congratulations on the new purchase. I would stick to the tyres recommended by Ferrari. The cars came from the factory with Goodyear, Pirelli or Bridgestone tyres. It would appear that your car, like mine, came with Pirelli's, so stick with them unless you decide to change all four.
Good luck
Good luck
I use Kumho all round, they are a soft compound and last longer than the P0 Rossos i used to use, they only lasted for 6,000 miles.
Kumho are also a racing tyre maker. For the set of 295s for the rear and 235 for the fronts they cost me £530 all in.
They are super gripy and hold the road very very well indeed, as well as having a pleasing tread pattern. So the tip for today is Kumho's.

Normal PZeros (ie not Corsas) aren't nice in the wet or snow etc.
I have Bridgestone S01s at the moment. Not totally sure whether they're really that much better. I think they may be marginally in the wet, but are also marginally noisier. But the differences are so small it could just be my imagination.
Eagle F1s were the only other factory tyres as mentioned. But these ain't cheap (about double the others IIRC).
I might well give Kuhmos a go next time (hello Chaa BTW. Good to see you here).
Tyres make such a difference to the way a car goes. There's a sticker on the door jamb which says which tyres your car came with when new. I do wonder if Ferrari set the car up just for these (though doubt it very much).
