Well my plate is now on retention and details sent to dealer to stick it on Aston. Money has been requested off my investment platform so hopefully that should hit my account by Friday(?) then I can pay for it and collect my new baby for start of next week or thereabouts.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the thread and for their often kind words too.
I've enjoyed updating the thread with my angst, thoughts and progress as much as I've enjoyed looking at new cars. I think it helped give me some clarity by putting it down in writing and also seeing the feedback from fellow pistonheads which often made me look at something differently or just look at something I hadnt really considered previously.
Hopefully get some pics of me collecting it or at least soon afterwards next week.
Still need to sort some insurance quotes out between now and then rolleyes

Enjoyed following your postings, thinking and final purchase, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Regarding insurance I recently changed to Locktons, seems to be a good policy at a sensible price, the person I dealt with also knew his cars and different options, tracker / non tracker requirements etc…. I was insuring a Porsche and a Ferrari.

Nice thread. I'm selling my 328 and now looking for my next car.
Was initially searching for a 430 Scuderia but prices have gone a bit too high for my budget. So now looking at 599 HGTEs.
Went to see one today and put an offer on it. I'll know next week if they accept it.
Well any news yet?

Nice surprise today when the V5 for my new chariot arrived in the post. I was surprised because I haven't paid for the car yet !
I know it's not proof of purchase but would mess things up if I pulled out now evil

I'm just waiting for the funds to hit my bank account as they were transferred to me today and then I can pay the bill so to speak.
So looks like I should have her home Tuesday or Wednesday
Woo hoo
Now to spend several wasted hours sorting insurance over the weekend.
(Thanks for recommendations everybody, j will be ringing them)

Car is now paid for as of today , its taxed and fingers crossed I should be picking it up on Friday.
Of course I had completely overlooked it was 01st March so dealership really busy with new cars going out hence the slight delay but Friday will be fine.
Still haven't sorted the insurance out as I hate spending hours on the phone answering the same mundane questions over and over

Congrats Longy, that is a gorgeous car. Enjoyed reading the thread and, upon seeing that specific Vanquish early on, I thought oof I hope he buys that one.

Let us know how you get on biggrin

Collected yesterday and it pi$$Ed down for 180 miles there and 180 miles home again!
So first thoughts, upon collection she was stunning. I had asked for some ppf and bits of wrap to be taken off as it was old and was detracting from the cars otherwise beautiful finish.
So glad I did as she was simply gorgeous yesterday. The ppf had done well and the paint finish underneath was in great condition and like new.
The car is definitely louder than the standard vanquish and the crackles on the downshift in Sport mode are just so addictivesmile
Cruised home at about 70mph ish and got 27mpg which is fantastic and bodes well for my trip to france in May. 180 miles and half a tank used so real work touring probably 350 to 400 miles depending on how much you cane it in sport mode and hang onto the gears. I'm sure sticking it in drive and you could easily get over 400 on a full tank which I am sure is down to rhe 8 spd box efficiencies.
Superbly comfortable for touring and at a steady pace on the motorway you can get things to be very quiet for such a loud car which again is superb and certainly quieter at a cruise than the 599 but louder when your playing so best of both worlds.

Going to give her a good wash this morning and then pop down to the detailer so he can do an assessment of what we can do and get a plan of works sorted.
Very very happy here bounce

Beautiful car… but I wouldn’t reckon on anything close to 400 miles out of a tank when you get used to driving it.

Oh that feels like a challenge woohoo

I have a French trip in late May 350 miles just to the ferry from here all A1 M1 so I shall see what I can get
That said I'm in total agreement in normal or more spirited driving ,barely seen double figure mpg today frown
But hey ho you don't buy a V12 for fuel economy but I was genuinely impressed with its frugality when cruising on motorways

Detailer booked for the 14th March.
4 days for a full enhancement job with Gtechnic serum ultra coating (9 year gtee with that too)
Paintwork and general condition didn't merit any further correction work according to detailer and I would probably agree with him.
Going to be glossy heaven when finished

On cars that have the potential to cost tens of thousands per year year to run (by the time you take depreciation into account), fuel cost difference between say 15mpg vs 27mpg almost becomes an irrelevance. The challenge should be to enjoy it as much as you can.

Ha ha that is very true but trust me on that trip to Dover with my missus sat next to me there will be NO spirited driving nice and steady all the way.
As I only collected it yesterday I took her out today and wishing to demonstrate its 600 ponies to my beloved wife but she was screaming ( not in a nice way and def not THAT way) when only using about 400 of them that I had to back off so I have been told it will be nice and steady when she is in it angel
Or a very expensive divorce could follow rolleyes

A week in and my initial appraisal and thoughts
The paint is indeed very soft so glad it's off to the detailer tomorrow morning for 5 days of tender care and a lovely ceramic coating.
Due to some land scaping it keeps getting blocked in my garage so not too many miles done.
However filled her up with shells best and did a 95 mile back road 'getting to know you ' type of blast and drank very slightly over half a tank so probably averaged about 10mpg ish which just demonstrates her jekyll n Hyde nature 28 mpg eadily on boring motorway stretch and 10 or less when playing about.
She is certainly very loud and very quick but when trying to push on she does feel a little lively, not nervous but almost like the back and front aren't quite damped at the same rate ?
I had to put lots of steering input into my efforts and it certainly makes for an interesting drive !!
I think it's probably the chassis trying to deal with its weight and for the most part it does it extremely well ( she isn't a small nimble sports car after all) but when trying push to my own limits I had some very sweaty palms at the end of it.
It was a real laugh and a tiny bit scarey at the saMe time.

The front bit of the car is always further away from me than I imagine and the parking sensors are a bit crap. A front camera woukd have been great as I reckon it's just a matter of time before I clobber a kerb or something with that splitter.
Very comfortable but seats lack a little side bolstering when being a looney.
The sound track from it is just wonderful, I always use the paddles rather than D and it works a treat.
So all the cosmetics done this week and then I may stick her into a specialists for a post sale once over in case anything may need done whilst I'm still in that 1st month of ownership which pretty much means a dealer has to accept it as a repair under consumer regs no matter what the warranty says.
I don't think anything needs doing but I'm.not a mechanic or a specialist so may be prudent to get it done.
