I have a Vanquish S Volante and nothing beats the sound of that exhaust (i also own Ferrari, Lambo etc).
Just the best sounding V12 car out there and extremely loud (but such a nice sound)!

I would go for the 599 - a Ferrari V12 is just very special. Given the congested roads and speed limits, I would seriously consider a 550 for the manual transmission and slightly smaller size [plus probably lower running costs if that is important and - to my eyes - prettier looks].

Good luck with your search

MDL11 has beaten me to it! smile

A 550 is a very good shout. I've been lucky enough to own a 550 and a 599. Obviously the 599 is very much quicker, but I preferred the 550 in every measurable (and emotional) way. It was a joy to own, a joy to drive, it feels special. It's the car I'd have back in a heartbeat.

Definitely worth a test drive OP.

You guys kill me, I could soend the entire year test driving different cars. I like the 550 / 575 but never really wanted one , manual or otherwise. Got to go with ones heart
Mind I reached out to 2 dealers over the weekend both about 3 1/2 hours away from me asking for details etc thinking if they stack up I could perhaps view them later this week.
As of Monday night neither have bothered to send me anything or to contact me back
Sort of puts me on guard about buying anything from them. If they can't be bothered when I'm a prospective buyer what will they be like once they have my money ?
Maybe I'm being harsh.
Anyway if they don't respond by tomorrow morning I will move on and look elsewhere

Give them a chance I would imagine they get plenty of enquiries over the weekend, maybe call them and speak to them, they will then be able to tell you are more serious!

1980s Top Trumps player? Just needs a Turbo 930 for the full set.

Ha , the only lambos I can afford aren't for sale !
Jalpa yes, but only a handful built in rhd and not much for sale
Gallardo, no not my thing
Huracan no too modern
Countach and diabolo, not enough pennies in the bank
Any interest in an Espada? Seems to combine the muscle look of the old Aston V8s with 50% more cylinders

One only considers an Espada if one is especially blind and stupid. A thoroughly ugly stheap of a car. Every single one of them should be burned.

You have it nailed.
Born in 67 and I loved the 80's and yes a 930 turbo would do me very nicely but a good one these days is £130k and as much as j would still love one somehow at that sort of money I would be thinking I could have got a V12 for less
Maybe it's just me but while loads of modern cars would run rings around my favoured set I still think aesthetically the old buggers from the 80s were just so much prettier and interesting to look at.

Be well chuffed with an espada but not with a left hooker.
Must be a uk original car and in right hand drive, for me these are non negotiable as I just don't drive enough in Europe to justify a left hand driver

Oh yeah, good point.

This CC sale from last year suggests that it's not impossible to find a RHD Espada for your budget, but can't see any out there right now

I've enjoyed the Harry's Garage / Tyrrell's Classic Workshop Espada videos.

Harry is a legend !
Was never 100% convinced when he chopped the hole in the roof of his espada but then I tend to be one of those who believes original is best. Minor mods or upgrades yeaH but cutting a huge hole in the roof to replace it with a glass one...ummm
Anyway he spent a small fortune fettling his back to good health.
Back to my search...I spoke with one of the dealers I reached out to last night and whilst he acknowledged seeing my email request for info said he hadn't done anything with it but would send the information through ASAP.
Let's see if it turns up.
Will ring the second dealer this morning and see what they say.

If your dream car is a Countach QV , but it is outside the availabile budget
AND
If you are considering cars of the 599 and Vantage/Vanquish/DB9 era ,
then you should maybe consider a Murcielago.

Re your comment about transcontinental trips , the Countach was fine for that in the early 2000’s , and I suspect that a Murcie would do no worse .More recently I have favoured something more narrow and less powerful than either of these , simply because less width makes for an easier time abroad and less power means that you can reach the rev limit more often and in more gears .

But there is something very , very special about a naturally aspirated V12 , and you should absolutely go for one if you can.

Best of luck with your search

Well my search is continuing but neither of the 2 dealers i contacted over the weekend (initially & chased since) have bothered their backsides to send me any information despite writing to them and me following up with a call.
Poor show when your selling luxury products.
I have broadened my search and will be contacting others tomorrow.
Why advertise your products for sale if your not going to reply to people who are interested in buying them?
Maybe its best to find out their 'mañana' attitude now and not when you have a problem post sale.
Have to say I'm disappointed in their lack of effort as the cars looked worth further investigation but hey how onwards and upwards.

Are you contacting main dealers or indies?
Are you emailing or phoning?

The golden rule is money calls, enquiries mail.

Definitely better you find out now. I had multiple similar experiences out of repeated calls and emails with Maranello's in Egham and despite them being my local Maserati and Ferrari dealer will now never buy from them. Have now bought both brands from HR Owen and couldn't be happier. Find someone that will take the time to make you feel good about giving them your business.

They were both independents specialising in luxury super car type vehicles.
I emailed them both with various questions, clutch wear, brake wear, no of owners, service records etc. Just the usual stuff. When nothing comes back other than the automated acknowledgement I rang them saying I had written and could they tell me blah blah.
One promised to send it all through via what's app and the other I had to leave a voicemail as no answer.
Still nothing from either. They have my name, number and email contact details.
I have moved on and won't be pursuing either of the vehicles I was interested in with these firms purely because of the apathy demonstrated by them.

You are obviously aware that you wont be their only client, that they may be working through a list of similar enquiries and then also dealing with walk ins and running the business, I would expect to wait for a few days after I have called them and over a week if just an email.

I run a small firm and potential customers seem to feel that they should hear back same day. Sometimes that's possible, sometimes that isn't. I have existing projects, existing customers, a business to run, site visits and unexpected issues always arise. Of those potential enquiries 1 in 10 ever leads to anything.

I think you need to be patient, especially if the cars you have discounted seem to be ideal.

I appreciate your comments and have been running my own small business for several years now. Both firms are by appointment only so walk ins shouldn't be an issue.
As for not getting back to potential customers within 4 days is poor by any standards. Remember one of them promised me he would send all the details over via WhatsApp after I phoned them to follow up my contact form via their website as he had everything prescanned and photographed, still nothing.
And as for my own business I always acknowledge a potential new customer as soon as possible even if its just say, I'm really busy but will get back to you on such n such a day. I never ignore them (intentionally anyway)
Either way I feel dissapointed in their lack of effort and they are on my naughty step and my money shall follow me elsewhere to someone I feel is more deserving and appreciative of my business.

Great, all the best, 2 great cars either way I am sure you will be happy!
