The original Miura was so right it think it's sad that they are
even considering recreating the car. Up until now Lamborghini have
managed to avoid retro throw-backs and I think they should
continue that way. I think A new car for 2006 badged 'Miura' would
be much more palatable than an updated replica like this. Plus
the roof is too wide at the front and the door frame looks wrong.

Been reading PH for ages but never posted before but am bored at work...
Nice looking car but the proportions are wrong.
The original Miura had a transverse engine so they could give it that long-bonnetted look that makes it work so well. I'm guessing if they build this one, the platform will almost certainly dictate a longitudinal engine - and it'll be a big V12. So it'll have to be more cab-forward like their other cars. Which works really well with the fighter plane/space rocket look of Countach/Diablo/Merci/Gallardo but less well with the more laid back Miura styling.

I like it a lot, and absolutely not lazy! its very difficult to make a cult car even better with modern engeneering and rules, and still get those lovely looks.
Remember also the origenal muira's got easely fire
and I don't think the new one will do that

Only the frontsplitter? seems a bit ofline...strange looking just like on some F1 cars on the "last" moment they added a little extra wing? not realy goes ass one with the rest of the car(my thoughts)but I can't wait to see it in the real world.

Sure it's pretty, but you can buy an old one that looks even lovelier for 100 000 Euro's.
It'll be just as fast up to about 160km/hrs which is when you'll loose your licence anyway.
From the spare cash you can go to Lotus for an Exige GT3 for the track. Or an old F3 car.
And to think they could have used a Murcie-RGT to trounce the Enzo FXX and resurrect it as a Miura. Oppertunity lost, pity that.

As a long-time Lamborghini fan when I heard of a Miura copy I thought it could be good. As others have said, if Ford can do it with the GT40 then why not Lambo with the Miura -- there's no more iconic design after all, and no more iconic Lamborghini designer.
But this is not a Miura copy. The original was beautiful, almost dainty in places, with exquisite detailing. This is not. The back sort of works (though the back windscreen shouldn't taper) but the front is an abomination.
As a new car I guess it's ok. As a Muira it's a non-starter.
Better to push forward with the credible Espada replacement than to butcher the past -- unless it's money they're after. I just hope they don't try the same thing with my all-time favourite Countach LP400. That would be enough to drive me to Ferarri.

What happenned to the other pictures of the silver car? That is more in line with modern Lambo designs so I would expect that to a bonifide model in the pipeline.
I can only assume that by calling it a Muira "concept", they are testing the water for a change of direction in the styling area. I think the car is a beautiful design in its own right, however the retro/ modern phillosophy of cars like this and the Ford GT is a pretty cynical attempt to cash in on past sucesses. Some would call it lazy, others would call it a business plan

Exactly - if the original Miura, Countach, Esprit etc are sultry Italian brunettes in stylish, slinky, simple cocktail dresses that imprint 'exotic' on your mind but leave plenty to your imagination, then the Zonda is a bottle-blonde with oversized breast implants, with too much makeup, in a string bikini.
Mies Van Der Rohe had it right - less is more. Now why couldn't he have done supercars as well as chairs?
Given that I love the ford GT you'd expect me to like this. However I can't get away from thinking that this is a total travesty.
Lambo v12's should simply shock and amaze. They exist simultaneously as art, theatre and automotive passion. As such it needs to be very special.
Original 400GT did it, the miura did it, the countach did it by the bucket, as did the diablo and the murcielagio.
For me though his does not do it, it's lazy its poor thinking, and if Lambo want to go into the future as the exotic car maker they arn't helping themselves one little bit.

Can anyone remember the photos of a dark blue miura about a year ago on here. Someone found it round the back of Buckingham Palace, God it was good.
I doubt they'll make this though, not with Lamborghinis reputation for forward thinking design. I reckon it's great spin to get everyone worked up about Lamborghini, which is no bad thing.
