If they sold 1 you could say there was a demand. The question is, how large is the demand ? OK, so there were 600 sold. I'd be very interested to know how many of those were speculators. Quite a few based on those which are being flipped now. The fact that used F430s Spiders fetch £20-30K over list for a good few months, compared to used AMV8s fetching list in the same time frame suggests the demand isn't that strong.

Quoting sales figures from 10-20yrs ago is pointless as it was a different company then. It used to be Aston Martin.

Ed, what a collection of cars your father has there, you very lucky to be able to drive all these wonderful cars. I do have a question though, no F40, F50, 288 GTO, Miura, DB5, Merc SL Gullwing etc etc, none of these interest you or your father ?

I thought the same thing (great garage and also no 'classics') - I suppose some people enjoy the latest technology and design rather than the 'character' (and I mean that in terms of running problems, overheating, water leaks etc ) of classic cars.

He really needs to think about a Mac F1 though
