Thats the beauty about my Rover.

It's N Reg, cost me £700, already has a few dinks and scrapes on it and I dont give a toss if it gets any more.

It sits in a train station car park all day and I dont have to make sure I park it in the farthest possible corner of the supermarket car park.

That said its nice and tidy inside, comfortable and has most of the toys.

The other main benefit is that the Exige feels so much more special when you take it out for the first time in a couple of weeks after having been driving a Rover.

For travelling just use a shed you dont worry about and keep the decent cars just for driving.

I leave my 355 wherever I happen to be!

Don't get me wrong, owning a Ferrari was a boyhood dream and I love it to bits, but it's a car at the end of the day and replaceable. Treat it as such and you'll probably enjoy it more?

Only 'problem' I seem to have really, is cleaning off the masses of fingerprints I seem to accumulate! It's been the star of many photos though

Which area of the country to you live in? I live in Ascot where I wouldn't expect trouble as nice cars all over the place but would worry about taking it into other areas more.

Funny you should say this, but having moved from a 'normal housing estate' where i had no trouble to a quiet private estate on the South Coast i have had my Cupra R relieved of its DVD and Sat Nav and feel generally more unsettled when the Ferrari is not locked in the alarmed garage overnight... even though my neighbour has bought a lime green Carrera GT...Like anyone would steal my old fezza now

I've been quite lucky i think.

The day i got the car we drove into London and went shopping, the wife felt she needed some retail therapy as i'd obviously had mine....

We ended up parking on a side road i think it was just off Saville Row, as much as i wanted it in a secure car park, all the places i tried appeared to have a entrance that would end up scraping the front of the car.

having previously owned Escort Cosworth's i can however completely sympathise with the worries that go with ownership of those cars... I always had dreams or should i say nightmares of a low loader coming along and dragging it the car away.

I haven't experienced any negative comments but agree with Chocolatemonk, upon joining a Dual Carriageway or motorway people are just dying for you to plant it....

i try to be sensible with parking it but i have to admit i have yet to leave it anywhere for a night out unless i can see it through a window....

I think the key is to enjoy the car else you only live to regret it when you come to sell it....

A topic close to my heart! Here's a few obvious top tips:
1)If you have to park in supermarket/public car park, park as far away as possible from the entrance. The earache you have to suffer from your wife all the way round Tescos is worth the piece of mind.
2)If you have to park in a busy car park, choose a spot at the end, or next to another smart car (whose owner is no doubt as paranoid as you).
3) Never park next to a crapheap or a car with a childseat in it, or any type of people carrier. If you've ever seen someone try to strap a screaming kid into its car seat, you'll know why (me and my wife included!)
4) Never park in a doctors car park - ask yourself - why are they going there in the first place...
5) Avoid parking anywhere in Central London. Your bumpers will be used as a parking gauge.

I don't think you can do much about the theft aspect. At the end of the day all you can do is secure the car and your garage as much as possible. If the scum want it that bad they will take it,especially superbikes which they can just load into the back of a transit. When I take my Ducati anywhere it never leaves my sight!

some good tips! Like a few of you have said the message seems to be to be careful where you park and use common sence but above all we only live once and to live in fear is not to live at all plus the car is insured. If I get a 360 I will go for black or grey too so it doesn't stand out as much as a red one.

It's a shame we cant all enjoy our cars with out some t0ss pot spoiling the fun. As dealmaker said if it was like the US people would say wow well done nice car . Not be jealous as hell and scratch it.
That brings me on to my second issue with car ownership ! I work in the city everyday and get the crappysmith and city line to work, so i only use a car when i go back up to newcastle , see mates or tescos !
Most of you own a very nice car , but because of all the above only seem to drive it at night , at weekends or to places you know are safe.
How can you justify the huge expense , depreciation , running costs etc for a car you never get to fully enjoy and only use once or twice a week ! I know owning a car is never really an investment but it's a lot of cash to splash for a once a week toy!

I don’t know about anyone else but the justification is every time i turn the key...

The sound of the car starting up through the Tubi does it for me.....

There have been numerous threads on here about loss of money and depreciation but i think the general consensus has been that you buy these cars to enjoy them and for most people who work very hard its their chance to enjoy themselves...

As for depreciating assets that you can only use at the weekends and cost a fortune to use... try boating.... oh my god.....

I've left both the 360 and Murci anywhere and everywhere...

Having said that I do live in Weston and so it's hardly the mecha of car crime.

Justification????I only have to drive up the road or even look at it to realise why i spent all that money.

Like someone said on another thread about buying a Ferrari.... buy one because you want one, not because it makes sense.

agreed, I am really tempted to get one for the summer - it's just the running costs that worry me.

To me cars are my one and only vice, I could be a lot worse and have a drug/alcohol/gambling/prostitution problem but i leave that to the barristers.

Totally agree. Its a car and its insured. My first car was the victim of an arson attack outside my house. Did it stop me from buying another? Hell NO!!!

Once or twice a week!!! I'm doing well if I drive mine once or twice a month. A friend of mine has a GT Diablo, and he hasn't driven that since last May!

i drive mine everyday, leave it anywhere.

only people to go near it are kids who take photos!

can't get stressed about it otherwise you won't enjoy it.

my dream was to drive a ferrari 360 - and i live that dream everyday.

not having the fear of it being touched stop me from enjoying it, if it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen.

best car i ever owned - even though im now sitting in my office waiting for the AA to pick it up and take it back to the dealer for the 6th time in 4 months!!

guess it's a taxi home again!!!!!!!

Yea I leave the Murcie in most places - theres a couple of very secure multi stories in Leeds where it lives a lot, never a problem.Only thing is it does set off a lot of car alarms with the Tubi underground.
On a different note - what do you think about the current sat nav's being Ferrari/Lambo friendly?? My Alpine system seems to have the knack of routing me through the worst areas of any city, or any roads with large humps on it. Or 6ft wide country lanes. If theres a huge council estate with boarded up windows on the way, my satnav will find it.

Few stories about my mazzer:
I left my house door keys on the passenger seat at work the other week (secure workplace so not a problem) at least ten people who i didn't know came and told me. Why were they looking at my passenger seat?
I've been collared 3 times this week getting into the car. Each time 15-20 mins chat about it to some enthusiast.
Had a hotel porter park it a while ago. Found out where they had parked it (a local NCP) and checked it regularly (found a few guys drooling) but otherwise ok. The day i was due to leave went to check it first thing and could not find it. Went back to the hotel bricking it only to see it parked outside the front door. Turns out the porter had come in early just to drive it. Told me he had driven all sorts but never a Mazzer so got up early before his collegue could have a go.

Advice for car parks: either have a baby. I have and park in parent and child at the supermarket. Or park over 2 spaces.

Sods Law is if you park at the far end of the car park where no one else is. When you come back some t***er in a 4x4 has parked next to you and dinged your door.

Always park nose in. People want to see the badge at the back and will scratch it trying to have a look is it is parked rear end in.

I know its not a 'supercar' as such but ive very recently just bought my Integrale Evo, its immaculate and has no door dings or scratches and since owning it have become more worried about where I park it etc, went to tescos today and parked it miles away in a corner and took up 2 spaces (there were loads of spares ones around)and when I came back, someone parked a few cars down made some comment about taking up 2 spaces, if it wasnt for that fact that people seem to have no regard for other peoples property etc I wouldnt do it. Most people seem to like the car which is good, although I have noticed rather a large amounts of chavs in Saxos etc getting up my ass and wanting to race me!!
