Once again Lamborghini displays that they are the best designed cars around.

- Aston Martins are beautiful, but come on, the Rapide looks excactly like a DB9, just longer. I really hope they do something new with the DBS.
- Ferrari, on the other hand, is revolutionary, and that's a good thing, only problem is that the 599GTB isn't beautiful.
- Lamborghini stays true to being the worlds most outragous carmaker, and in my opinion it's a good thing they aren't going to make the Miura-remake, but "instead" throws this design masterpiece on the road.

This is a Lambo looking so awesomely Lambo as possible.

Ive always thought they looked a bit ungainly in pictures, but when i saw one in the flesh last year i was amazed. Its both brutal and subtle at the same time!

I just wish theyd make a lightweight rear wheel drive version.

I was worried sick for months thinking about a forth-coming Murcielago 'update' ...the Murcie is just perfect and I was dreading the thought of Lambo touching anything.

Well then... this shows there may just be another dimention beyond perfection itself because this looks absolutely breath-taking.

The normal Murcie is prettier (because its a little cleaner) but this is just freakin menacing...
I get the feeling a Viper would piss its pants staring this thing in the face.

the interior... www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/Lamborghini/2007/Murcielago_LP640/18179
is just perfect - love the stiching... the cf... the aluminum... layout... I love everything!

I thought the body of this sexy sexy devil's chariot was made out of Carbon Fiber! I thought that helps in the weight department!

Most of it is carbon fibre, except the roof and doors. Its the transmission and V12 that contribute most to the weight. Jump in a 360 and it feels like a little go kart after the Murcie that feels like a truck! But I do prefer the Murcie on long distances especially. It never deviates from the centre of the road even in bad weather, whereas the 360 darts around a lot. Mind you on the track the 360 runs rings round the Murcie. That is until you get em both on a long straight..

Like this?

Interestingly, EVO said that when they were testing the Zonda and checking out the 599 GTB they wanted to pop into the Lambo factory to take a look at the LP640 - but they were all in Germany - every single one.

I don't need prices . . .

Strip it to Stradale specs . . . saves weight and maybe it would pass the Enzo on track? Take it to the NRing . . .

Is this the Lambo that you are getting to replace your current Murci?

holy moly!! i thought the Murcie couldn't get any meaner and then this arrives!
i think it looks great, far sexier than the 599GTB and i bet it'll be more of a riot to drive too. it's so great to be living in a time where if you had the wealth to buy such cars you have such a great selection to pick from 599 GTB, Zonda F, Aston Vanquish S and now this!
the raging bull rages on! and long may it continue to.....

Wow, as good as Barbra Streisand, if not better!

megaStreisand, megaStreisand. Damn where's Robert Smith when you need him?

will be seeing this at Geneva.....if it drives as differently from the standard Murci as it looks then my long search will be finally over

Just out of interest, what don't you like about the current Murcie?
Granted the '02-'04 MY had crap brakes (especially on the track) but the 05's brakes are fantastic. The LP640 won't handle any better though, than the current Murcie, and will be a little faster of course, but its no lighter, in fact a little heavier.
It would have been nice to see a 'Stradale' like Murcie - both lighter and faster. Having said all that it looks fantastic..

I think the LP640 looks great - although, for me, the wheels don't do it....

Are Lambo thinking about a run out SV edition? Lose the VT system - and hey presto - 80KG saved. Also - the gearchange is faster (and less resisteance because of the VT synchro). This would be right up my street......MMmmmm - brings back memories of the 6.0 2WD (RIP)....

I asked Valentino Balboni exactly this question a year ago..Trouble is its too expensive to redesign a whole new transmission for 2wd again. The current 4wd transmission on the Murcielago is actually inherited from the Diablo. This is why the wheels are still only 18'' when they would certainly be better with at least 19''. The Gallardo runs on 19'' because it was a new design back in 2002. But a lighter 2wd Murcie would be fab, but I don't think it will ever happen

A lot of the US guys have a VERY cheap method of engineering a 2WD Murcie - they simply remove the front driveshafts and propshaft to the front diff!!!!...et voila....2 WD Murcie 40kg lighter!!

I'm assuming they did get to see it, as the LP640 in all it's glory, is in this months edition....along with the 599GTB and Zonda F Roadsport CS.
