Interestingly EVO figured a 612 with more horsepower than the manu's. claims! I wonder whether the 599 production car is carrying more than the 620 claimed horses?

Whatever . . . most owners would never come close using the full figure.

Agreed...but it makes it interesting in the "shootouts" don't you think?

Maybe so . . . but variations in tuning between every car, temperature, fuel, driver etc, etc, would make more difference I think . . . Line up 3 of the same cars and see what happends.

Saw this also, throws out of the window the theory that Ferrari always exaggerate HP output(or maybe they've just tidied up their act).

Car Design Rant...
Has anyone noticed that if you remove the tacked-on buttresses (check out the join lines on the roof in some geneva pics) then what you have is a better dressed corvette. I will concede that Ferraris do always look better in the metal but still, Giugaro always produces prettier concepts/drawings for ferrari and lamborghini than Pinin Farina. Why do they never win the contracts?
Case in point: 430 - scrunched up backside.
612 - bulbous in pictures and bulbous in the flesh too which i s'pose is why i found it fairly roomy in the back. And don't give me the "its imposing" argument. So is a bmw 6 series and thats an abomination (the M6 only less so). All we have done is got used to them. nothing more.
599GTB hmmm. - It's good but it's not quite right. jury's still out.
355 and 456. Proper car design.
Thoughts?

I'm not seeing that at all, other than they both look like front-engined sports cars.

For me, the 355 always looked like a slightly effeminate 348. Not talking about handling, power, quality, anything like that - purely on looks I prefer the 348.

If we're allowed to go older, I'd maybe choose the Dino 246GT and the 288GTO.

I think a lot of the current favour with Ferrari/Pininfarina/Scaliegti is the advances in aluminum construction. This has been a close worked co-op and it is why the handling of the current crop of F cars is apparently so good.

It is not too difficult for top design houses to fire out nice concepts, but how many are actually delivered? Packaging, safety, cost to build etc.

I think it is a bit of a transition periond just now for all designers due to safety regs. Look at how similar the new Astons are to each other (and the XK). Ian Callum hmself did say it was difficult to get away from the strict layoutss and dimensions dictated by modern packaging requirements.

I agree with practically all that, including the corvette! Finally osmeone agrees with me! Cut away the buttresses and theres a C5/C6 rear hatch exactly. The front wings remind too much of C6/viper and the side has similar placement of vents to the C6. The front even has that C6 look to it. I understand Ferrari has to keep within strict regulations, but come on, with all the so called talent theyve got over there they can put osmething out that looks drop dead beautiful? Aston can do it, Spyker can do it, and those are fitting with regulations too. whats Ferrars excuse? Especially at the insane prices they ask for these overhyped machines.
