Was coming back from Lambo Manchester today on the M62 when I notice one of those very annoying 'Traffic 'Officer' Shoguns that most people think are the Police. There must have been a 200yd tailback of people not wanting to overtake so I pulled alongside (he was in the middle lane) and floored it in 4th and left him standing. 10 mins later and plod in an X5 appears in my rear view and immediatly pulls me near Rochdale. Very nice chap simply asked for my docs and asked why I was goading his colleagues in the highways dept.Apparently the guy had contacted the Police and said I sped away at 120mph. Yea Right.Anyway he had a sit in the Lambo, then a look around and saw the little black box at the front on the grill. 'Parking sensor I suppose?' he says smiling. 'Umm of course officer' I said. 'Go on, on your way' with a grin, and off I went.
So the moral is don't take the p*ss out of the Highways agency guys

You need to be careful around there, there is a Police station at Birch Services on the north bound side. They quite often wait on the slip road on the Heywood/Middleton exit. How did the X5 catch you up anyway?

I've always suspected, but never had it p[roven until now, that they have direct comms with Mr. Plod. I never sit behind them on the motorway, but pass at a sensible speed without drawing to much attention to myself and have never had a problem.

I saw him a good half a mile behind, I think he'd been on a slip road but I slowed right down when I saw him. Those highway guys are on £25k a year according to an article I read. Quite a good job for cruising up and down coning stuff off etc. Am I the only one who thinks they go overboard 'overconing' everything? They put their cones absolutely everywhere.

absolutely...putting perfectly capable old people out of a job. Nice hot cuppa, lining the sides of the roads you could just get em to move by shouting. proper.

So do the Highways Agency vehicles have speed cameras in them? If not, how the 'eck can he claim you sped away at 120mph.

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine in his scuro blue SV. Was stuck behind a numpty in a Volvo on the A3, Volvo finally pulls over and my mate dropped it down several cogs and floored it (just to make a point, you understand). Unfortunately, matey had an unmarked plod car behind him eek

They pulled him over and said they realised why he'd done what he'd done, but not to do it again. Had a good look over the Lambo and then sent him on his way.

Is it a laser jammer you have then? Does it work effectively? I would love one of those to piss off the stupid speed camera guys.

Having been in a car with a very nice laser jammer a few months back mate I can safely say that they work. The driver was proud to tell me that it had got him out of one or two scrapes when he had missed speed cameras and laser guns

One has the distinct impression that traffic police generally have a pretty low opinion of their colleagues from the HA....

Two people have told me recently that there are some sort of presentations going on in Italy in the near future about the Enzo replacement

Then again it might be total crap, but one of the people who said this would definately be on the Ferrari potential customer list
