I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Ferrari's have effectively 2 exhausts. One used at idle and low revs and one used at high revs hence the awesome sounds. Is this true? Or am I going mad?

Cheers

2 exhausts - 1 per bank of cylinders.

The 355 (and possibly others) has a bypass valve in each. I believe this allows for nicer noise for emissions stuff at low revs, and a banshee shriek at high revs.

Works nicely. Tubi replacement exhausts are just phenomenally loud and very tempting. Sound just like old school F1 cars.

Could this be referring to the vacuum line that opens the outer pair of exhausts on the 360? At low rpm, only the inner pair is used; at higher rpm the valve on the outer ones open and all four are used, which is louder! Same as on the Vanquish, and a means of getting cars through noise regulations I believe.

Last of the decent sounding Ferraris was the F355... The new ones sound lame. Thank EC noise legislation.
