in metal the car is little, compact, pure, i like it a lot.
the inside is quite ordinary, all middle grey and audi smell, than when you turn it on the sound...

well, with low rev is a full and beatifu sound, getting nearer the red zone it becomes so ordinary and never grows like a v8 Ferrari, for example...

a friend drove a manual, the friction pedal is long and usensitive and the steering is very audi, with no feedback especially in case of a little spin (we wre on track, but cars were lamborghini's)

is also wasn't so firm in 170 180kmh curves, but 3 turns is a little time to judge a supercar...

anyway a very disappointing experience, inside was like a tuned tt, not a little murcielago, that's a real blast...

so, if a could afford one i would't havo bought it...

presence and look aren't enough for a supecar...

sorry for my enlish guys!

A good review, speaking honestly.
Its a shame that the Lambo is becoming too much of an Audi. Why do Audi engineers always have to remove the "feeling" from cars?

The engine guys are great ( witness the RS6 !) but they should fire the steering and suspension boffins I think !

kinda agree with federx...but.... yes, it is somewhat more ordinary inside than lambos of old, but its SO MUCH better put together that i, for one, would be very happy. I've owned mine for 5 years now...and things which seemed exciting, different and 'proper sportscar' are often the thing which ends up irritating over long time. Oh, but the manual I tried was also pretty shoddy. on the plus side, the e-gear is so much better than the 355 one it's in a different league.

I cancelled my G order after driving one...not because it wasn't good enough, but almost the opposite. It is VERY fast (I think a mildly played with one will eat a Murky, cos the diable does), but felt quite restricted.

I think (well know actually) there wil be several versions of the G, and more power, less weight and few other tricks are on the way - so Im going to wait on that.

Yeah - v more lambofied, didnt see Tiffs comments but.....bloody awesome, gorgeous car.

I think we need to define what a supercar is don't we? I dont think the Gallardo is,or is meant to be, one. Audi have built a car that the market wants havn't they? Easy to drive, percise, quick, safe (yawn yawn)

I bet the 360 replacement wont be as bare and raw or as loud as a Stradale for the same reasons.

What would you have done if you were Lamborghini? Surley not what Aston have done which is to make an "entry level" car that will outshine its big sister in carrying that luxury-Gentlemans-relish-DNA in its youthfull body (did I just type that?)

Or what Bently have done which is to stick an engine in its pauper model with more cylinders in than it's flagship Arnarge T? Now that is strange.

I wouldn't know, but I think that the people who can afford these cars that write their views here on this great site are a bit of an exception to the average buyer of this stuff.

During my regular daydreams I find myself flicking through the Sunday Times and dealers websites. Judging by the low milages and ages of used cars, It would appear that not many have seen a PH track day or one of the meetings after a great days driving. Or, God forbid, take it abroad!!

I think that If manufacturers were to design cars for PHers they woulnd't sell as many cars.

What do yas all think?

As a refugee from the Poker forum,,I see the Gallardo as a well marketed car...Surely an interesting rival and alternative to the 996TT.....As wonderful as a 996TT is at a glance it can look like £37k worth of 1998 C2,hardly the stuff of supercar dreams.
The Gallardo can compete in this lucrative sector and leave the big brother Murci maybe in a slightly more extreme form to compete with the big guns.

Nightmare.....

Sorry to harp on but my mate with the 355 is looking to change. He's not too in love with the 360 but will stay with the Ferrari fold if nothing else takes his fancy. He has said that the Gallardo though is a real alternative. Can you let me know when and where you drove both manual and paddle so he can perhaps do some further research. He did go to the dealer in London but apparently they had some pre-production cars over from the factory for static display only. Apart from the cars at Goodwood this year and then only staff could get their hands on them I'm told. (Gits)

I just know I will get a hard time for criticising a car like for this for lack of boot space but that did it for me. Wifey and I can just about squeeze 2 weeks luggage in the 355 spider and take it on long European driving holidays (autobahns, alpine passes etc).

The Lambo boot just would not cope.

I asked for and got my deposit back and will stick with rari

Bolthrower,

Sorry for delay in reply - my life leads to somewhat varied internet access...... I dont think this will help. Drove the Gallardos at Lamborghini in Italy...not in the UK. It was about teh sam time as the perss launch, so the manual may well have been changed a bit. It isnt THAT bad, somewhat similar to my elises (which personally I like cos its very slightly 'sticky'), but a bit slow.

And there have been a LOT of people amazed by the boot - me included. Considering Audis (positive IMO) influence in everything else, this was weird. Something you totally understandable in the Murci becomes unnacceptable in the 'entry' car.....
