Hi everyone,

I have come into possession of a rare book on early Ferrari. Not the usual St.Michaels "The red Ferrari" style, but a proper book, useful for historians.

called "Ferrari" by Hans Tanner, it has thirteen chapters from the very start, including experimental and special Ferrari's, F1 and F2 cars, the sports cars, Touring cars and the development of the ferrari engine. (totalling 300 pages, including cutaway drawings, b&w photos and colour plates.

Also 25 Appendicies (another 70 pages) inclduing engine data- Grand prix cars, motorcycle success' by scuderia ferrari (?), some ferrari lap times comaprison. etc etc.

For historians its a huge tome; you want to know how many 250 GTO were made (and their chassis numbers??) Its all here:

40; 33 3-litre cars with series 1 bodies, 3 4 litre cars with series 1 bodies and 3 3-litre cars with Series 2 bodies and one 3 litre with LMB body work.

You want to know the competition record in 1950, how many entreies, how many retirements, placings, what causes of retirements?? its all here.

I dont want to sell it on ebay, as I dont think it will do it justice. And being a (whisper it) Aston/ Porsche man I dont know much about the Ferrari collectors market.

Any ideas anyone??

Will

Is This it?

Is this the book? If so, it gives a couple of second hand copies for sale at around £45+

If not, HERE is the search option for Hans Tanner Ferrari

Hello Will

I have a huge number of motoring books and magazines, and the Ferrari section is one of my favourite.

I guess you have the (last) 6th version of Hans Tanner's which is a good reference. Published in 1989 is has about 660 pages and shouldn't be missed in any good Ferrari book collection.

This book was often mentioned by other authors who used
infos out of it, because it is mostly very accurate.

Tanner's 5th and 6th volume books are (of course) out of print but can be found easily on the market and in
good condition. Nowadays a resonable prize is around 50
UKP or 75 EUR.

Thanks guys. Its published in 1974, and there's no mention of Doug Nye at all (there isnt a dust jacket which might credit him. But the inside pages don't credit Doug nye at all.
