which would you buy just because you needed a 2+2 (just to get the wife to go along with the plan):
456gtm
612 scag
aston vanquish
bentley cont gt
porsche turbo
AFAIK the Vanquish does not actually have rear seats, it is a pure sports 2 seater a' la 550 / 575; that's what the DB7 Vantage is for.
So if we were replacing the Vanquish in you rlist with a DB7 my order would be:
DB7 Vantage (so much style)
456 (so much style)
Porsche TT (so much fun / performance)
Bentley Conti (straightline weapon, but compromised by VW underpinnings)
612 Scaglietti (Ugly Ferrari is a cardinal sin)
I'd slot the Mas 4200 in behind the Porsche and maybe consider an XKRR if money is even slightly a concern. I suspect however that the forthcoming DB9 will top the lot - not long till launch so if your seriously interested I'd get thee to HR Owen soon as....
Lots of misinformed opinions of 456 ownership being banded about here...
There is AMPLE room in the back for 2 full grown adults to sit comforatbly on long journeys in the back. Have done it in mine many times.
Running costs are the same as any other car of this nature. You don't buy them for economy. Accepted, tootling round town in a 5.5 V12 isn't a cheap thing to do. However - on long journeys, I can easily get about 300 miles + for a £65 full tank.
Practicallity - I use mine daily, it's been (touch wood) - 100% reliabaile, despite all the horroor stories I had heard.
The 612 looks good, but personally, the styling isn't as exciting as the 456. I wouldn't really consider the others at this point.
HOWEVER - you gotta say the Vanqish does look the mutts nuts. I might swap it for a week - just to test it!

Another vote for the 456.
I've always really liked the way they looked, ever since they first came out. Also, it's got an awsome motor and performance to scare a superbike...plus there's the Ferrari specialness in the way it goes about it's business.
Aston would probably be next on the list?

Steff posted a nice 400i pic. Can carry 4 adults.

My father has just changed from a 400i to a 456.
I quite liked the 400i. Not the best looking Ferrari ever made but better in the metal than photo's suggest. The old mans was light blue which helped.
We did 3,500 miles across Europe in it and although there was only 2 of us there was loads of room.
Cruising performance was good too and it would quite happily cruise at 140 all day long. One of the fuel pumps knackered in Germany and we did about 700 miles home on 6 cylinders and still cruised at 100 mph.
I have only been out in the 456 twice so far but the performance in that is fantastic. It feels like it will go all day long at huge speeds.
Wouldnt describe it as a true 4 seater though. My dad is 6'4 and I am 6' and there was no leg room behind him at all. Steff was sitting behind me and while he fitted I doubt he would have wanted to do a particularly long journey in it.
You could always fork out £180k for the ex Sultan of Brunei 456 GT Estate

I think my Mas 3200 will do fine until I can afford a Vanquish. When I get one of those, anyone who wants to go in the back of it will just have to be grateful they're getting a ride in it and not moan when they lose the use of their legs.
456GT would be my next choice
612 - hopefully a grower but not doing much for me so far
996TT - No doubing its capabilities but maybe a bit everyday compared to some of the other choices you list
Conti GT - It's not really a proper Bentley is it?
Merc super coupes - Yawn
All IMHO!!!

That's what I thought until I was educated last week.

Edited to say I'd go for the proper Bentley Continental, not the new VW/audi one.

Mmmm.456GT even if you don't need the back seats, fewer seen on the road, bargain prices because people don't actually consdider a 4 seater Ferrari, drive one properly and it is devastating. Proper back seats providing the passengers clench their ar5e cheeks because it feels even quicker in the rear seats.
Good luck

This is insane . . . I wonder if there are more estates like this? Looks better than a Volvo . . .

Well I never. I stand corrected! Not much there though...
Like the fact that the brochures are downloadable PDF's
