Funky

What about all previous MOT's then?? I always thought that cars that weren't fitted from new and had type approval didn't need them retrofitting. Misses used to have a v old mini that didn't have them and didn't need them fitting for the MOT.....Just a thought.

well i'm not that clever on ' type approval, construction and use' and all that stuff but, speaking to my mate who's an mot tester yes it does need belts in the back. The guy who I am buying it off is going back to Meridien where he bought it from to have them fitted (at least it should be a good job). he's also gonna give them some stick as they sold it to him only 2 years ago with a new mot and no rear belts! work that one out.

Funky, What about last years MOT? I know you are really keen on a Maserati but I would think twice about this particular one!

I'm fairly certain that if a car is 'C' reg or later (can't work out what year that is this time of night) then it was required to have rear belts fitted from new. Prior to that - no requirement to have them for MOT, but if fitted they must be working.

Perhaps it had them removed at some point?

Cheers,
JSG.

could it have been imported from somewhere where seatbelt laws were not so strict?
