Before looking at your profile I thought. I bet he ownes a porsche.

6.0
fast
reliable
good on a track
only expensive if you dont look after it.

Why keep them alive, well I guess you will never know!

And
I would happily drive mine every day
Well said JD thumbup

I do have to laugh at the comments putting the Diablo down from "people" who have quite clearly never owned one.
Practical - good God no!! but that IS why I bought mine.
Slow - fu**ing hell!! blistering performance EVEN on the bends!!

Can't wait for the spin in the GTR!!!

bks, the "old" Diablo is just fine, runs great, and interior quality has been really good for me smile

Took mine to the south of France:

Reims

Millau Viaduct:

Other than that, it kicks arse smile

Lines are perfect

Now that to me is much more of what I think a Diablo should be compared with all the variations that followed. That's the ideal so to speak. I could look at that car in the flesh for hours. I had the poster on my wall when I was a kid.

You should be hugely proud to own that car. I would be, that's a certainty.

If you're interested in a straight swap for a 10 year old Elise, just give me the nod ;-)

Simply amazing cars. The 6.0, for me, hits all the right supercar buttons. If my numbers ever come up it's THE FIRST thing that i'm going to buy ! smile

Points duly noted about pop-up headlights. Diablo definitely wasn't the last car on sale in the UK with them.

Has anyone ever driven a De Tomaso Guara?
Indeed I have and nearly sold it to buy a Diablo SV a couple of years ago.

Pleased I didn’t in the end as I struggled like hell with it on the test drive from DK Engineering, brakes or the lack of them in the pouring rain frightened the life out of me. The Guara does at least stop, if it’s not aquaplaning of course!

Trouble is however much I try the lure of the Diablo remains intact; prices seem to be easing a bit?

The Guara was the last car available with pop ups, there was still a couple of cars being built when the factory closed, they are still being built I think although a bit dusty

Spent half a day many years back in the Alpine (ICE) Diablo. Clutch slip was a bit of a problem – and it was on its third clutch in under 5000 miles (poor thing spent most of its life being put on and taken off trailers). Width made it a daunting drive on B-roads.

It's quite low.

It's quite wide.

It's quite impressive.

Blimey, this is an old thread.

As no one has posted any pics of a GT I thought I'd put up a few of my old jalopy.

Hi Del!

Hope all is well. What a special car that was.

The GT looks awesome, especially in that colour. As a matter of interest, how did you find driving a LHD Diablo? I have driven lhd before, and currently have a Ford GT, a lhd car that also happens to be wide, but I think a Diablo is slightly wider with the huge mirrors, did you find it an issue?

Steve is your GT the ex Mcgurk car? I tried to buy it recently and it was sold but the ad was still running.

I don't think so Andy, I am in Ireland, and I bought it three years ago. It is one of only three in this country. My car below, a few mild mods, 620whp smile

Ok, it is the colour of a car that was recently for sale over here, I also liked a white GT that was advertised on this site a month ago but couldn't get a response from the owners advert, strange.

I did see the white/blue stripe car advertised, they look great in that colour combo. My car colour is Tungsten, it was a special order colour, only available in 06. Have you driven a GT yet? I guess the answer is yes if you are looking to buy.
Do you still have the Diablo Andy? I am thinking once again of a possible buy, and have received all sorts of conflicting advice on what model to try for. It is not like there is a great choice at any given time!!

That GT is beautiful, but I think if my numbers came up a 6.0 VT would be my first choice.

Absolutely stunning cars, they were always my favourite as a teenager and still are.

The looks and drama from them, I dont think anything comes close. Maybe a F40.

The only Diablo Ive driven was an early 2WD and although everything was very heavy, it was just amazing and made me grin like a kid smile

Suprisingly I have not yet driven a Ford GT, I guessed it would be a natural move on from my old SV which had as much charisma as you could want but often felt under braked (mine was a 97 no abs) and tricky at the limit, I also like the fact that the Ford is easily tuneable. If I were to return to Diablo ownership it would be another SV probably a late car 98/99 or a 6ltr. In the meantime I have just started researching Murcie 670s and i'm really tempted if I can source a nice one.

Ah the 670SV is a truly great car from what I read about it. Way out for me though, with our punitive import duties on cars here, I would guess the 670 would cost over 100k in registration taxes. I like the 6.0VT a lot, but they seem scarce, what was your experience of the SV? Is there any difference aside from styling between the early 94-97 cars and the later 98-99's?

There are many small differences, others more qualified will pop up later but I can tell you the SV had more power than a regular car, 510hp on a 97 car and 530hp on the 98/99, the later car recieved variable valve timing as well as abs, the 99 cars had glass headlamps and a 6ltr style instrument housing. Many SVs had the short ratio gearbox which I preferred. The 6ltr car had many more changes both cosmetic and running gear plus 550hp from memory, I have only been in a very early car and my own 97 so cannot judge which is really best, they are all a fairly rapid exciting machines.

Hi guys, i am new to posting on these forums but have managed to find a little time to give it a go. I have a 1991 Lamborghini Diablo amongst of Supercars, i have owned the car for around 6 years and have spent unbelievable amounts to get it back to showroom condition.

I always dreamed of owning a Countach and had the chance just before i brought my Diablo but i thought at the time £46k was a little steep, how wrong could i have been. So i ended up with my Diablo, i also purchased the number plate D3MON at a DVLA auction, which suits the car beautifully.

I am considering selling if anyone is interested let me know ?

Kind regards Diablo

Welcome to Pistonheads!

Your Diablo looks stunning! I'd kill to own one at some point! Good luck with your sale if that's where you're heading smile
