Jet over PistonFest!
This is your chance to soar over PistonFest in an ex RAF Jet! We're auctioning off an aerobatic ride of a lifetime!
Taking the Pistonheads attitude of “Speed Matters” to the extreme this time, we have organised a full aerobatic jet ride for one lucky passenger at PF this year.
After the racing has finished on Saturday 3rd July, we have a slot to fly Ted’s corporate jet around the surrounding countryside, lasting for about 45 minutes.
Be prepared to experience speeds unobtainable in any road car, upside down and pulling excessive amounts of G-Forces - definitely not one for those with a weak stomach!
The way it works is we open the bidding for this via the site on the sticky thread in the forum. if you fancy the ride of your life or setting someone up for the ride of their life, simply bid against your competitors.
Bidding will close on the website just prior to PistonFest opening, and will be finished off live at the event.
The winning bidder will be taken directly to the aircraft, briefed and strapped in. If you can cope with it, we'll record you whilst you're airborne and play back your experience immediate afterwards via the big screen for all to see.
You can expect the following to happen whilst in flight: Flyby, Stall Turn, Slow Roll, Half Queban, Derry Turn, Noddy Stall Turn, Max Rate Turn, Barrell Roll, Wing Over, 4- Point Roll, Half Horizontal 8, Inverted Fishtail, Wine Glass, Vertical Roll Up & Down, Tail Slide and finish off with another Flyby.

Not strictly true - the seat didn't 'fire', it slid up the runners when they were inverted, and smashed the canopy. Not too hard for it to do, as the seats weigh an awful lot. He survived, but it frightened the owner/pilot (Tom Maloney - owns Transair pilot shop) immensely - he thought he had killed his brother.

If you already have a PPL, it will take you about 15 hours to be capable of flying it safely. It's not a difficult aircraft to fly. There are lots (relatively) available for around 65K.

I'll be up for but only if I get to have a go on the stick thingy, I'll be practicing in a glider next week so should have no problem in that old tub, must be like flying a black & white telly surely.
Can they fit some play-rocket-launchers and park a talivan on the runway and get to have a go at blasting it please

i.e. JP5 with tip tanks?
If so I know of a couple for sale, admitedly they need a bit of work for the MOT, but they only cost about £19K

Sorry, but that's gone completely over my head - the photograph above is the one sent by the owner, and he's got the Provost....the photograph you are poining us towards has a propellor fitted? As you can tell, I know even less about planes than I do badgers, apart from the info already relayed.

I'm sure I will be corrected, but as I understand it...
The RAF used 2 main types of Jet Provost, the JP3 Non presurised cockpit and wingtip tanks, and the JP5 more sophisitcated with presurisation but with no tip tanks.
BAE sold the Provost under the name of Strikemaster to anyone (read middle eastern countries) as a combat aircraft, this was effectively a JP5 with tip tanks and wing pylons.
The Link should have been more detailed, you need to go to - 'Inventory-Warbird Projects' and look at the 'BAC 167 Strikemaster' link.
Oh and as far as I am aware the JP had an excellent service record, and whoever gets the ride will be in for a real treat
