Coventry Car Day is a free one-day celebration of cars old and new, organised by Coventry University and based in and around the University's new Hub student building. It includes:

- Display of around 80 classic and modern cars, many with Coventry connections. So far the line-up includes everything from a 1920s Alvis and a Triumph Herald to two Ferraris and a Mercedes SLS.

- Academic/industry symposium debating the future of the car, with contributions from Autocar's Steve Cropley, designer Richard Seymour, hydrogen vehicle expert John Jostins and more.

- Sir Nick Scheele, former Jaguar CEO and president of Ford's automotive operations, delivering The Bugatti Lecture - on the changing contribution of the British motor industry to the development and production of cars.

- Car careers fair with advisers from automotive employers including Peugeot, Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover, and the University itself.

- Tours of Coventry motoring heritage sites, on foot and on a classic bus from the Coventry Transport Museum.

- Public Q&A with a panel of automotive experts, chaired by Steve Cropley.

The event is free to enter (apart from the industry symposium) and everyone is welcome.

Vehicle display spaces are rapidly filling but we are still on the look-out for interesting vehicles, particularly those with Coventry connections - which could be anything from Austins to Astons. If you're interested in bringing a display car along email me at a.noakes@coventry.ac.uk for details.
