Perfect.... Mine and my wifes mums have passed on so will be a good reason not to be reminded of the day.

This was mega fun last year…
Would it be socially acceptable to come along and do the track time in a landy this time though….?

Tempted, sometimes the most inappropriate cars are the most fun!

Unfortunate to be clashing with the start of the new, improved BRC in Mid Wales........so I'll give it a miss.

Im actually mega excited for this I'm yet to go on a track. Played loads of forza and I am quite handy and done some go karts. Can't wait to see how I get on. Hope this isn't the start of a new expensive past time!

Second question (sorry) - if I book track time, is there enough room in the paddock for tow-car and trailer? Or, since I'm not too far away, somewhere secure-ish I can leave spares/tools while I'm on track if I just bung it all in the Westfield?

Yeah, plenty of room in the paddock. Equally I think that if you phone Silverstone you can book a pit garage for the day. That's what we've done... but then we're organising the event so maybe we're just getting special treatment!

Excellent - you'll love it!

Not sure what session you're in, but I'll be doing passenger rides in a suitably PH vehicle all day - if you want a ride to learn the line(ish!) then just come and find us... all it'll cost you is a small charitable donation.

Better still, spend some money on an instructor - £ for £ it is the best money you'll ever spend on making yourself go faster (and safer) on track.

See you there!

JD that is brilliant advice. Thank you.

I think getting an instructor will be a very good idea. I'll ask about that and see what they tell me over the phone. I'd still like some passenger rides in PH motors as well though! This is going to be a truly epic day. Can't wait.

Im now deciding whether to book a hotel or just come up from south of the river on the day. decisions decisions

Sounds like its going to be a great day. This will be my first Sunday service so just wanted to ask a couple of questions please.

Is my friend allowed to join me in the car or is it 1 person per sign up to the calendar?

I put down that i'll be coming in my 330d but not definitely sure if thats the car i'll be coming in, does that matter?

Is there a cost besides the cost of going out on the track if you want to do that?

Also, I would love it if someone would be willing to take me round the track in their car, i'll bring a woolly hat incase anyone wants to take me out in a Lotus 7 / Westfield etc. smilesmilesmile

thanks

Rich

I have signed up for the last track session. I too would love to have a passenger ride in an earlier session if anyone is kind enough to offer. Other wise I will be talking to JD to try and get a ride before my session.
I don't have a lot of headroom in my car so with a helmet I will be wedged in there nice and tight!

No problem - from memory Silverstone have a number of instructors on standby that are available to book for a session. Saying that, calling up and booking one can't be a bad idea to make sure there is someone available for your session.

See you on the 6th (and no worries on the passenger ride either)

HA!! The number of 'Mothers Day' replies i got when i messages the gang about this. For those wondering whether to track your main car/expensive car, consider track day insurance. I always thought it'd be prohibitive, but I've just done a quote for me and a friend in his £20k Jag XF-R, and its a little over £110. Bargain! I'm between cars just now, and I don't think the Truck would be the best tool for track.
I really should check out the terms on extended test drive insurance documents, there's a Porsche Dealer not far from there, and Avis have just introduced a Prestige and Sports Hire at Birmingham.....
What level of cover does that give you? In my experience, track day cover is so limited, it's hardly worth the outlay. For example, does it cover you if someone else on track hits you? I don't think it will, and assuming they're not insured, then you're taking a bath in that situation.

Went to this last time but didn't book track time and ended up wishing I had when I got there! So I'll be in the first novice session of the day. First time driving on a track, can't wait smile
