RE: Silverstone Sunday Service 06/03
Discussion
I was the guy in the Ferrari going at my own pace. It was only the second time I had driven the car so it was all a bit new (and first time on track for 5 years), did take it out of wet mode once and it all got a bit ugly so I thought discretion was the better part of valour, mind you though I did come up with a new laxative formula, damp Silverstone track + Ferrari 458 + race mode, really does get your bowels moving ! I am not making excuses, but the wet mode made it very limited on power exiting corners, still, there are plenty of brave souls and plenty of foolish souls, but not many brave fools.
On another note, what was under the bonnet of that red Evo ?, driver was a bit useful also !
I thought the drivers briefing was spot-on. Enough information to warn you of the perils of a track event but not too much to scare you. Also a pretty good double act, much funnier and more original than Ant & Dec, who will never be Morcambe & Wise no matter how much they try, but that's another matter and I am quite sure they don't care what I think, especially when they are on the way to the bank.
All-in-all a really good day, just wished it was about 20 degrees warmer. Cheers PistonHeads.
No problem mate, as I said it was obvious you knew what you were doing. It probably looked worse from the pit wall angle... anyway all's well that ends well!
Copse at speed in the M3 must have been interesting, I was struggling for grip and traction in the Audi!

...noticed a white M3 getting a bit close to a RS4 on the home straight. Yikes.
I was in the RS4 and yes it was a bit close, the Ferrari driver in front was going at his own pace (which is fair enough). I'd been sitting back and was just starting to pass on the straight when the M3 came blasting through.
To be fair he was driving quickly and could drive but he had no idea if I could or not!
If I had stayed on line it could have become messy!
It was minor thing really and overall the driving standard was good. I do agree with some of the comments that the briefing was a bit vague on the rules and trackday etiquette.
Even experienced trackday veterans could do with a reminder that we're there for a bit of fun.
All in all another great Sunday Service... Thanks PH!
Sorry I went past you. As I was approaching quickly under throttle, I made the decision to go past quickly as you moved over to the right. I felt it was safer than to brake hard to match your speed and go off the racing line. I was prepared for you to veer left, as there was sufficient runoff to my left and straight ahead. hello
Did you by chance get any of the black M5 which was in the same session as the Defenders ?
Yes I got one Did you by chance get any of the black M5 which was in the same session as the Defenders ?
Who was the blue E60 in the first session? does anybody know? My friend had a very nice "pantcrapping" moment and he was right behind him so we're wondering if he's got a recording of it
Another great Sunday Service, thanks to PH for organising
I was lucky enough to go out in the tuned A3, absolutely amazing car! Also as Keithton pointed out, my trousers did need a change after our little off track excursion (I told you not to turn off the Traction Control!)

Also, who was in the blue E46 Convertible here? I passed you in the traffic on the M25 - I was in the Lotus with the silly sized smiley on the back.Great turn out and superb verity of cars on a very cold day. Pity I had to leave the CSL at home as Michelin CUP tyres don't grip very well at temps below 7 deg.C and IIRC the top temp on the day was around 5 deg.C ... although it felt like -5 deg.C. all day long.
Here are my pix of Cars that caught my eye on the day, ones that haven't had much exposure in this thread, including my mates fully caged Clio 197
Enjoy

Loved the look of this GT-86. Looked how the car should have looked leaving the factory.

Thought we stayed on the track, atleast miles from the barrier! although were facing the front of a black Porsche briefly...vasilis said:

That would be me. Was your friend in a silver Clio? I recorded the whole session, but unfortunately I forgot to set my Gopro to spot metering so everything outside the window looks super bright! Got great exposure on my interior though

Good to meet you, great driving and I can see that your car is quite the machine - had a look at your mods. Mine's only got a front BBK, Pole Positions, solid/ball joint bushes and inconel exhaust with road tyres.
Thanks. Took a while for me to learn the track and to get temperature in the tyres, but eventually managed to catch up, after you walked away at the beginning! Turning into Copse was so much fun, I need to go back soon for a proper day.. Thanks again PH. https://youtu.be/ONcyOrt77KY
