Barge 1-5 Christmas/New Year Meet - 29/12 11am, Duxford
Discussion
It's time for another Barge 1-5 meet - a relaxed gathering of PHers. Latest thread here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
All are welcome, barge or no barge. It's a state of mind after all, not a particular vehicle. I came in an SLK last time.
The usual 'agenda' is we arrive, look for the old mercs and jags with barge saddos surrounding them, grab a cup of tea, and take a look at the museum.

That's a pity Max. Any chance you can make it in a different car?
It really is about the people rather than the cars anyway. (I think!)
Probably didn't word that too well, it is due to a change of family/friends visiting plans as yes I was planning on bringing another of the fleet. It really is about the people rather than the cars anyway. (I think!)
Will see how it pans out.

I'll be there in the mighty SEC.
I can't wait to see this. My 190 is also an 88 so we have the baby and the best of the range from that year Either way I will be at the meet
In all seriousness, nothing will be ridiculed. As CdG mentioned before it's about the people, not the cars, there's no barge eligibility rating handed out at the door or sniffy segregated hard-standing parking for the elite. I would imagine there'll be a few people genuinely interested in how a mondeo holds up and will want a look.

To reinforce what idiotgap has said, and perhaps to ease any fears anyone might have about attending, this is the least cliquey car meet ever.
It's only called a barge meet because its genesis was on the Barge 1-5 thread. It's a bunch of folk who are interested in cars of all sorts, who fancy a drive over the Christmas break with a museum trip, fat boy lunch and some tyre-kicking all available. What's not to like?
Come along, and bring whatever you have (or whatever you can get started on the day!)

As a long-time barge thread lurker, and in an attempt to not be Mercedes based (although I think I want an r129 sl500 to replace the z4 next year), I'm going to attempt to make it down (again - family commitments have me in Chelmsford for Christmas, but back home in Rochdale for morning of 28th, so this would be a nice 450 mile day trip - it's all in the timing...), in the newly acquired, just short of double thread budget 760iL.
After all, the best way to celebrate a new car purchase is to do 1000 miles in a week, no?
No pic's as I'm in Eindhoven until Thursday, but it should be findable on e-bay if Taj hasn't taken the ad down yet (ATM in Tipton).
Any love for the big 7?
