Great to see that a 650s is beat by a merc coupe and modded 240z.
Bet he was happy
If you saw how bad my starts were there was a lot more shame to be had if I was bothered . To be honest apart from managing to get it go forward there doesn't seem to be a lot of fun when the car is completely controlled by the launch control and computer timed gear shifts. Without a clutch it isn't very involving with no real sense of personal achievement but it was fun to try once and see all the other cars running.Bet he was happy

fast terminal speed though.can you switch everything off to try? were all your runs consistent, as in, that's the computers doing best effort?

I noticed that. After the 60ft mark, you were gone - no way I could keep up. I got my little win for the day tho! I could do well at 60ft drag racing, but cant see that idea taking off.
My issue was one-tyre-fire. Tried to warm the tyres up before every run, but mostly spun one wheel!
It's also interesting how close your times are to my 330d e46 last year with ~250bhp, iirc you said you have around 200bhp now?My issue was one-tyre-fire. Tried to warm the tyres up before every run, but mostly spun one wheel!

Think I went with you on one run, I wondered why you weren't in front!Few more runs you'd get in low 11s if not 10s..

I'm tempted to upgrade the intercooler and get a sports cat/decat but the gains aren't worth the cost. Would rather get a more exciting car to drive than spend more money on it.
It should be running slightly better as I've just had the EGR replaced and shoved many cleaning products through the system in the last 3 months. Also gone to premium tyres, but wider with same profile as stock. More grip but more to rotate.

They weren't great (especially in reverse), but it was great to see someone actually running one of these on the strip, so hats off to you tbh. I did enjoy watching you reel the other car in following you going the wrong way for a moment. Edited by CaptainRAVE on Tuesday 9th May 12:41
1) Press both pedals as hard as possible
2) Close eyes

Thank you for the interest, I've hopefully attached a picture of the timings for the 5 runs I did.can you switch everything off to try? were all your runs consistent, as in, that's the computers doing best effort?
I've only had the car since November and only read the bit of the manual about 'Launch Control' on the Sunday morning so I'm definitely no expert.
The first run came up with 'Launch Control not available' as I screwed up part of the procedure and ignoring my typically crap reaction time the first 60ft after just flooring the throttle came up at 2.50s. For runs 2,3 and 5 I managed to trigger launch control but on the second run, the other car was long gone before I'd managed to finish the procedure and start moving. For the runs with Launch Control working the first 60ft times were in the range 2.11s to 2.23s so the Launch Control is as I would expect faster at getting away.
Run 4 I overshot the staging lightst while trying to left foot brake (Launch Control needs brake fully depressed with left foot and accelerator full to floor with right foot). I then reversed back and while trying to swap feet forgot to switch to 'D', luckily Launch Control doesn't engage in reverse so after a bit of confusion and going backwards initially it hit 60ft in 4.7s but it did go on to reach 131mph.
Looking at other cars posted above the car obviously 'relatively' struggles to get off the line but then does well once going. I don't know if the setting of the 'active' modes for the car would make a difference and I very much doubt if I was manually controlling upshifts I would have done better. On the way home I realised I hadn't tried different settings for either the 'Powertrain or Handling controls' leaving both I think in Sport mode, it may have been a little faster with track mode selected looking at the manual.
The car was on P-Zero Corsa tyres (with the rears close to needing replacement) and I certainly wasn't brave enough to try warming up the tyres prior to any of the runs.
Overall as I mentioned previously it is a bit of a soulless experience with everything being automated once I got the hang of the launch control the only slight fun would be trying to improve on the reaction times (which obviously wouldn't be too hard ...).

200ish. Its the torque which is most impressive, 400+ Nm. Makes everyday driving so easy. I did look at the 330d times and noticed how close they were. I did run a 14.6 last year, but on a much warmer day. Is the 250hp remapped from the 180 or 200?
I'm tempted to upgrade the intercooler and get a sports cat/decat but the gains aren't worth the cost. Would rather get a more exciting car to drive than spend more money on it.
It should be running slightly better as I've just had the EGR replaced and shoved many cleaning products through the system in the last 3 months. Also gone to premium tyres, but wider with same profile as stock. More grip but more to rotate.
Mapped from 204hp. 6 speed manual. Reckon it's the weight that did it in, 1650kg according to the V5!I'm tempted to upgrade the intercooler and get a sports cat/decat but the gains aren't worth the cost. Would rather get a more exciting car to drive than spend more money on it.
