Just entered for the International rally...Has anyone done it previously? I am wondering if they send the entry info to your home address? or do you collect it when you arrive at the event? This will be our first time at Angouleme, so any pointers would be useful.

Thanks

Went last year, you will love it..!

Not completely certain but I think you can collect there next to the Town Hall in the centre of Angouleme.

Just booked for spectator tickets on the Sunday, missed out on the Tribune tickets due to lack of attention and high demand for this year. Looks like it will be a larger crowd due to word getting around..

We're arriving on Friday....looking forward to it...it's quite a special event!

Can't give much info on the rally (i once saw the cars parked up around 10 years ago...) - but Angoulême is a great city. Depending on what time you have would recommend visiting some or all of these out of town destinations:

  • Karting Circuit Perigord (Near Teyjat) - one of my favourite karting tracks i've ever done! (opening hours can be weird... France)
  • Château de La Rochefoucauld - stunning chateau, decent chocolate shop + restaurant below it.
  • Cognac... of course.

Hi

We attend every year, as we live here in the Charente Maritime, and always have classic car guests staying that week to enjoy the festivities. It is a great event, lots to see over the weekend: static displays, concourse d'elegance on the Friday evening, the 200 km rally with the roads lined by waving and cheering bystanders; plus the racing on the Sunday. Seats in the grandstands are numbered and are your seats for the day, so you can come and go as you please, and there are enormous screens opposite each of the stands and in the paddock so you can see all aspects of this road race.

You will receive instructions where to collect your rally pack including rally plaque.

Any queries you can contact Terry an English lady who works in the Circuit des Remparts Office on 0033.6.85.33.82.85

A new organisation has taken over the event this year, and it is rumoured Derek Bell will be attending

Hope the weather is good, as there is no shelter in the stands - they are uncovered - so take some waterproofs just in case.

Hi,
You'll make slow progress off the autoroutes, what time frame do you have for the journey?

Yes, looked on google maps, if we go all the way missing the autoroutes, it'll add 4 hours....might be a long old day..

I think we will go autoroute to Allencon then via Le Mans on the old N138 route, then head on down from there on the country roads.

Just hope it's not hammering down with rain like it was on the way last year....it was horrendous! Really felt for everyone travelling down in their Classics, can't have been any fun at all...!

Will there be a PH meetup? I'll be down there with camera freelancing for people and would love to catch up with some of you and see your cars. Likewise, if anyone has a spare seat and would like photos and a fluent French speaker aboard on the Saturday, I'll gladly oblige smile See you in France!
