"Hesitant VW drivers"???

You know that if it's you that drove into them, then it's your fault, right?

I mean, we've all been there, distracted or in a hurry, seen the car ahead begin to move, look right, see a gap, presume the car ahead has gone but they've changed their mind and stayed still. Thing is, most times you get away with it because you look ahead BEFORE moving, or realise just as you move off and hit the brakes just about in time. Just looking at that photo though, and that's no "I moved off and 'lightly nudged' the rear bumper of the car ahead"... nono

"Tyres and Tarmac" is a good rule. Leave sufficient space ahead of you in a queue that you can see the rear tyres of the car ahead, and some tarmac between your cars. And ALWAYS check that the way ahead really is clear before you move off. The VW driver has every right to be "hesitant" if they are unsure as to whether moving off is safe. And you have no way of knowing if the VW driver is a competent, experienced driver or some halfwit driving without a licence and insurance. Tucking right up behind others is not sensible. Too many Asda drivers on the roads (more rollback than...) and worse, you could be behind the giffer who selects reverse instead of 1st but then denies doing so when there are no witnesses to support your story. Patience and safe driving are to be applauded not mocked. It's really not a race out there.

I hope you get that mended though. Looks like it could be a pretty expensive lesson.

Looking forward to this, booked on the 10:45 novice session - first time on track in my own car, I'll be the plum driving the silver 911 like Miss Daisy biggrin

The email from Silverstone suggests that there are limited helmets for hire - is it a realistic possibility that they won't have enough or are they just being prudent? Cheers

Wow i bet that guys fun at partys.

Was just me in the car and it was a bump at about 5mph so me and the other driver were fine.

These things happen right.

Do we know what time signing on is yet for the 10:55 seesion? I know we’ve done two separate briefings in the past.

Could do with knowing, it’s a long way for us northerners you know :|

Noob question, if you have a convertible, are you allowed to have the top down on track. Just thinking about head clearance with a helmet on.

Yup that's fine, you'll likely need a closed face helmet though.

Do those that have booked track time need to be on the event list?
As they are usually parked separately?

If not, i would make it into the 500 by my reckoning.

They do, it says that in the OP.

I have a slot in the 9:35 Novice session that im looking to move on if anyone's interested? PM me if you are.

Wish the Briefing/Sign on time table was avaialble to us earlier. I don't really fancy leaving at 6am to arrive at 8 for a session that's not until 9:30...

Or if any early birds would like to swap for a later session let me know!

In the past the sign on/briefing times had been shared as part of the announcement. We have a group that drive down together, but don't aim to get there until 9:00, which rules out the earlier sessions.

Apologies i wasn't clear.
I understand that, however surely there needs to be two lists.

As there are people way down the reserve list who have booked track time. Which unless they are turned away, suggests to me the capacity is 500 cars not including those on track.

If they are not turned away, and the true capacity not including those on track is 500. Then there are people on the reserve list that could have come but cannot.

hopefully that makes more sense.

Ok all booked now with Moris Insurance.
10.10 session as well so fingers crosssed it's a good day. First time with the new brakes on track... and though i don't have the roll bars sorted out yet, should be amusing to see what my old 330i can do. I do recall making an Evo look silly in the corners and that was on the original OEM Sachs dampers and springs!
