i10 driver here! Sorry to anybody we held up, I tried to stay out of the way and have a bit of fun! I had planned to bring my MR2 turbo but hadn't had time to sort an ignition problem in heavy rain, so the girlfriend and I decided to use her car to make the best of it!

Better luck next time. Was great to be on the track with such a mad range of cars. I kept commenting to Steph about the 550, made me very happy to see one like that. Thanks to the tog for the many photos of us in our humble weapon, it was a hoot to drive on the limit and we'll be purchasing some photos! smile
You're a hero for taking the i10 on! Certainly raised a smile!

We didn't have too many issues getting in. We didn't get the pass emailed to us, but showed the list to the guard and he let us in. A massive shame if people were turned away.

I don't even think there were 200 cars there. Be interesting to see if an official number could be produced.

My first S.S. and first time at Silverstone- as everyone else has said, great crowd, atmosphere and ace mix of cars. I was driving the green Cooper S in the 9.35 novice session.

Highlight for me was seeing the Ferrari 550 sharing the track with that Hyundai i10 (fair play that man!). A true clash of the titans.

Got some perfect railing-free footage of the M3 spin and a Go-Pro video of the Impreza code-brown moment in my session (we were just behind). Shout if you want an upload. spin

i am said chap in the Impreza with the prolapsed anus! having reviewed my own onboard footage its clear i overtook you, completely forgot my brake point and overcooked into a 90 degree slide and somehow managed to pull it back round straight! an upload would be a great watch!

Thank you Pistonheads for organising a great event, we had a right laugh on the track! And thanks to the photographer for taking some awesome snaps!

Thanks PH, had a good day meeting new friends in the car enthusiasts family,

The sag was a bit of a handful in the wet but what fun ??
Good to meet you. Was a great day. Good fun to be test the race chrono app (free 😊) telling whether I'm up our down in real time.
The new track surface was a real improvement, but the G33 was still a bit of a handful, sorry to anyone I held up in corners. I did lift a couple of times in the straights to be try and let a few people through who I was holding up in the corners.

I think out of all the cars on track the silver Turbo’d Eunos defo deserves a mention, had a chat with the owner afterwards, was a proper little weapon driving
That was mine,

Nice chatting to you mate, hope the VRS build gets finished off soon and you’re out on track having fun too!

Have also sent pics to people who've asked for them, hopefully the emails sent ok.

Hi so I recently joined this and put my name down on the list for the Sunday session yesterday. When I arrived I was turned away at the gates?

What’s the usual process for attending theses events please?

First off apologies to everyone in the 10.45 group, I was the 172 Cup burried in the pit wall. Thankfully the Silverstone team seemed to get me off and moving pretty quickly so not too much time lost for you I hope. A few hours spent in A&E this afternoon after the wife forced me go as I said my heart felt like it was ticking a bit funny when I got home. A full body mot and I’m declared fit and well, think it might have been a bit of shock kicking in.

Car held up pretty well for a fifteen year old Renault, I was expecting the damage to be far far worse.

Hi Matt, glad all is well after your trip to the wall and the doctor's have cleared you. Whats the damage to the Clio?

That sucks... Did you receive the email.

I showed them my phone with an image of the pass. They seemed to be okay with that.... They've never been this strict in the past.

A few shots of some onboard footage

Where you in the white GTR? If so you were turned away in front of me.

Usually the event is massively over subscribed and everyone get's an email with badges etc on the Thursday before the event. This was a little different as the event was delayed by a month and lot's of people appeared to have dropped out after the badges were issued.

Not quite sure what you should do after this, seems like a few people managed to talk their way in by proving their name was on the list.

Great SS otherwise PH!

Thanks dude, damage doesn’t look too bad to be honest, I was expecting much much worse (although I haven’t had chance to get it on the ramp yet and check everything properly). It’ll need a new n/s headlight as the bracket has broken and pushed the wing out of line slightly. The rear quarter will need a bit of love from the rubber mallet and I think (hope) that it’s just the n/s track rod that’s bent. A bit gutted as it was a pretty mint example but ah well these are the risks you take. A big lesson in the dangers of lift off oversteer for me!

Ho no I think it was my fault to be honest as I only signed up on the Sunday so and joined the list maybe it was all too fast. So usually you just get a confirmation email then?
Thanks

It was the first time I’d been asked at the gate to show the pass for Sunday service, this is the 3rd time I’ve been as well.

Ouch, but looks mostly superficial. I suppose the silver lining is now you can ring the final couple of tenths out of it knowing it already has a couple of battle scars.

You do, but... the PH guys organising SS's are employed by PH (Haymarket), so they work Monday to Friday on it; whatever happens to the list after that time, particularly over a long weekend, won't be reflected in a new e-mail getting sent out with an entry pass as the organisers simply aren't at work. Essentially it's the 24/7 user aspect of a forum versus the 9-to-5 aspect of running it.
