2018 N24 Nürburgring Roadtrip
Discussion
I've been to the N24 twice and much prefer it to Le Mans – far better access for joe public. Only thing is the hotels seem to get booked up earlier and earlier (and I don't fancy camping…). When I first went in 2014 I successfully booked in January, in 2015 in December. Now I couldn't get anything nearby in October!
Hi, we gave up LM24 for N24 and NClassic some 6 years ago. The experience is altogether sooo different. A few tips..
1. Do take some time to experience some of the roads south of Adenau (towards Cochem)
2. The weather can be unpredictable so be prepared for the best and the worst- though weather apps these days are quite accurate.
3. Do book Pistenklause restaurant - petrolhead bolt hole. Reasonable food, reasonable prices. Just don’t expect to meet Sabine (or her mum).
4. Do pits - despite the mega crush - mechanics and drivers are very hospitable and approachable.
5. View race from different vantage points. We found Brundschen possibly the best. Adenau bridge not too bad.
6. Past the Aston building - the petrol station always attracts a good assortment of car porn. Good for a ‘quiet’ coffee and a sniff of high octane Super.
7. Lingo? No worries. Unlike their south westerly neighbours, English is not a problem!
We’re always surprised how FEW brits attend. I guess it’s just a well kept secret! Actually, there tends to be more attending the Touristen Fahren events that formal race meets.
Enjoy!
