RE: Join the PistonHeads Sporting Tour!

Booked and paid late last night having forgotten to to do it at work!
Entry 61 - Mazda MX5 (MK1)
Really looking forward to this. I did a few 12 car rallies at university nearly 10 years ago but nothing since. I'll have to see if I can dig out my old map board...

HOTEL UPDATE
This is the hotel that we will be starting from and finishing at: Holiday Inn Ipswich, London Road, Ipswich IP2 OUA
Unfortunately there's now another function at the hotel on the Friday night, so it would appear our preferential rate is no longer available. If you want to stay at the Holiday Inn you'll probably get the best rate by booking directly, although I'm sure there are many other places to stay in the local area.
The organisers will be staying there on the Friday and Saturday night, for those that want to join us for a pre/post celebratory beer!
Rooms are currently £56 per night for a double excluding breakfast if you have an IHG Rewards Club account (which is free).

Entry number 14, in an MR2 roaster. This will be me first road rally, so ill start with a stupid question: is the route on closed roads?
Article states "(run by) the rally experts behind the Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring & Clacton; the first event in England to make use of the new closed public road rally legislation" , implying that this event will also be making use of that law,
and then says "most of the event is taking place on public roads", which implies it wont,

No it's taking place on open roads and is officially classed as a 'touring assembly'. The team that are organising it are behind that event mentioned (to demonstrate how good they are at organising driving events), but as stated, this is taking place on open public roads. The event is not competitive and not timed and those taking part will need to drive sensibly on the road to ensure we can run events like this in the future. There are however two timed tests on a private airfield where you can drive as fast/slow as you like.Article states "(run by) the rally experts behind the Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring & Clacton; the first event in England to make use of the new closed public road rally legislation" , implying that this event will also be making use of that law,

Have made enquiries with the HI London Road re Sat night accomm and seemingly they only have double rooms with double beds, no twins - no issue for those with spouse etc, but not so great for those of us participating with a mate!
Accordingly, I have booked a twin at the Premier Inn, Chantry Park, which is 0.5 mile away from the HI so an easy stagger. They are offering rooms for £65-£72 per night + £9.50pp for a morning fry-up.
Hope this helps.
