Sorry didn’t see it but I am local and happy to pop up there to have a look - or if you think it may be somewhere else along the route (petrol station etc.)?
Sorry I'd missed your post earlier, thank you very much for the offer. But, good news on jacket gate, the hotel have it! I think the first person I spoke to did what my better half would call 'man looking' They're sticking it in the post back to me.Deanbrown_98 said:
Great day out! All drivers drove well and sensible and still managed to open the taps from time to time! Cant wait for the next one. Hopefully next time my co-driver wont keep getting me lost and im praying that no more cyclists block the road and hit my car. All in all a great day!
You need to tell us more. What happened with the cyclist?????We made one wrong turning as the owner of a communist chariot was covering the road sign with his bike

I only saw one bit of unsuitable driving and it seems a few of us experienced the same from that vehicle.
Please do elaborate. They knew they were speeding about and I think calling it out would be positive enforcement....

Finally got some time to post on the forum!
Thanks for all your kind and encouraging comments about the event.
It was a bit of a trip into the unknown organisationally, being the first event of its type for modern cars in the UK.
I was never quite sure quite which roads to choose, a balance between narrow and not too fast to keep average speeds under control, with some nice open stretches was what I was after. As part of the questionnaire we'll be asking about that aspect.
It was so rewarding to see everyone enjoying the day and particularly the social interaction, it would be good to develop that side more.
Sorry that not everybody got the message about prize giving being brought forward, but there didn't seem much point keeping everybody waiting around for another two hours. You were all too competent using the tulip road book, even the extra 'initiative tests' didn't catch anyone out...... Nearly everyone got back to the hotel really promptly.
The current outline plan is to run 3 sporting tours in 2019, a North, Midlands and South with the tests based at race circuit venues. I would plan for the tests being somewhat longer, but for this first event, something simple and very safe was the best option, I also didn't want to spend a fortune on a venue when we couldn't be sure how many entries we would get.
Details will become available when MSV sort their race calendar out, should be early in 2019.

I didn’t participate Tony but I’d like to acknowledge your great post, noting you can’t please all of the people all of the time, and say i’d really like to participate in the next event. Thank you. Thanks for all your kind and encouraging comments about the event.

Hi all,
What an absolutely mega event and a total joy to have been a part of. A huge 'thank you' to everyone involved!
You may have seen some of our photographs on the article's main page - and indeed, you might have seen us snapping from our slightly garish pink and black 'Disastra' and generally out and about. Here's a fuller selection of pics for anyone who's curious to see more.

Hi Everyone, i'm normally passive on these forums but wanted to say thanks to the organizers for a great day.
We narrowly missed the horse box standoff but had the full pleasure of many disapproving looks from the locals. Did have a few waving us on though which was great to see. Highlights for me were following the Mexico for most of the first stint and having the pleasure of following the Alfa Giulia after lunch.
Was a bit disappointed that there wasn't actually a prize for being 'Closest to the poo' on the first Auto test as the marshal said I had that in the bag.
Also had front row seats to see the RS Cosworth getting thrown around the auto tests only to be followed by a marriage proposal. I was the idiot honking is anyone was wondering what was going on.
Also a huge well done to all the front splitters that appear to have survived unscathed!
Will be signing up for the next one where ever it is!

Real shame about the grumpy locals. Is it the area or the types of cars?
Have done a couple of very similar events in Yorkshire and Cumbria and saw none of those issues, but they were largely classics or small sports cars not “flash” moderns.
Also I’m thinking there are perhaps fewer houses on the remote roads in Yorkshire.

If you are doing a midlands run next year Curborough Sprint Track would be a great venue for the timed tests and a fraction of the cost of a MSV circuit Im sure. Thanks for all your kind and encouraging comments about the event.

I really enjoyed the 1st gear auto solos and they created a really level playing field. I was able to be competitive in my MX5 against cars 10x its value. And it wasn't just me if you look at the results the low powered cars were rivaling super cars throughout the standings.
