Really enjoyed it and great to talk to some fellow Porsche owners! (I was in the blue 997).

Gotta say, I really enjoyed the challenge of a wet session. However, the standard of driving ..... AGAIN!!!!!........ didn't match the driving conditions. PH track sessions should be for people enjoying their P&J in a relatively safe environment (hence low numbers and overtake rules), not an opportunity for track hacks and playboys to come along and barge their way around at Mach 1. Also, an intermediate session I don't think should be where you do a pleasure ride in your priceless Porsche turbo, as beautiful as it was.

I was on the 10.10 session. the guy in the white Mégane did exactly as I'd expect of a courteous driver. As did the white escos owner. Fast, but safe and keeping those around him in mind. I hate to be negative about a meet like this but it's not a track day. It's a taster.
Didn't notice anything particularly bad in the 09:00 and 10:10 sessions. A few people were going around sedately but understandable with the conditions in mind. Closest call was the VX220 going down the start finish straight at about 50mph which caused a bit of a queue. Will post the videos of those two sessions soon when they're done uploading.
The VX220 going slow down the straight was me recovering after spinning and nearly hitting the wall. Apologies but stalled on the spin as well as ruining my pants.

Thanks to PH for organising a cracking day.

Had a great time in the 09:00 session in the GP. Zero grip from the AR-1s but lots of potential for hilarious lift off oversteer and gunning it down the straights.

Can anyone elaborate on the bad standard of driving that is being talked about? I didn’t go out today as my car is only a week old but really excited about giving it a go soon.

If I was to do a novice session is there some understanding if I get things wrong or will I get abuse for being a noob? Nerve wracking to try it and want to know what to expect.

Thanks

Were you the driver of the golf? I was really impressed that you were keeping up with a black M3 and then next lap you were mike behind. Did you have a moment?
Yes indeed. No moments but got stuck in traffic for a while. What were you driving?

^ WHS - really nice driving - prepared to wait for the overtake and courteous with a thanks when the red Porsche moved over (finally) I did initially think the two cars were fairly evenly matched on track you both had the odd slippy moment which resulted in increased and decreased gaps so it was clear you were both trying hard in slippery conditions

Great day today.

Was worried about the rain as the car rarely see’s it!

But in all turned out a lot of fun!

Some great cars and even better seeing them being used on track! Great driver etiquette in our session too.

My missues trusts me 100% she just worries that it gets damaged haha this is why I proposed to her in it ?? but we laugh all the way round.

She’s used to it all from the antics we get up to in the Mx5 on track!

Ps this is 2nd time I’ve driven it on track, the other time was PHSS 3 years ago!

Here’s the onboard from that video...

It was my first ever SS today and 1st ever track day. I was in one of the white clio 200s in the 11:55 session.
When queuing up it’s very intimidating looking round and some of the motors you’ll be sharing the track with but once on track I felt really comfortable (although a little slow). Thanks to all those on that session who made it easy on track

Can someone also remind me of who was doing the official photos?

I attended my first PH Sunday service today. Was booked in for the 9:35 session but that got cut short. Ended up going out in the 11:20 session.

What an experience! Never driven silverstone in my life. I’m a regular at castle Combe so this was a massive step into the unknown. Also the damp conditions took some getting used to. Was like driving on ice in places and I was so scared of washing out and side swiping someone. 😬

I think I ended up being a rolling road block at times, so apologies! Kind of managed to link a few corners together on the end 😂

Will definitely come again. Was a great atmosphere and the selection of cars was amazing.

Thanks to PistonHeads for organising. 👍🏽

Thanks PH, another cracking day cool

I was on the the 10:45 session in a black M3 with the CSL bootlid and wheels if anyone has any pics. I've only had it a short time so was taking it easy and moving over where I could some hopefully didn't hold anyone up - still great fun though!

I wasn’t on the track. Definitely will do next time once my car is properly run in. Decided against it for this one as it’s done about 400 miles so far. All up for running it in hard but that would perhaps take it to the extreme.

Loved your Nova. I was the other rolling road block. I had a couple of half spins as the track dried out and I found the remaining greasy bits. Was good fun though and my first time out at Silverstone too. What engine is in the Nova? Red top?

The only bad driving I see on track was by me lol.

Joking aside some clown in a porker was that desperate to keep up with or overtake their mate in the white porker that they decided to get impatient at Brooklands and overtake there even though I was patiently waiting behind a slower car. If I wasn’t spacially aware you’d have had a nice silver streak down your 100k car!

Hi. Yes it’s a red top. From an Astra GTE 16v. I too had a few near spins. Will definitely be back.

I went today, didn't do a track day in my car but watched you nutters go out first race like wacky racers. Needed to get something off your chest? :-) Hope the M3 owner was ok as well.

I did a passenger ride in one of those MX-5's with Russell Anderson...who was a bloody brilliant driver, such a good laugh getting the back end out in the bends. He was easily keeping up with the white Porsche in front. I was well impressed with the MX-5.

In the 10.10 session the main thing I saw was people being too close in the corners. I was close a couple of times I admit (no intention of overtaking mind you) but looking in my mirrors at times I'd see people trying to overtake / undertake and then back off when it's a strict straights only policy. There were a few cars simply going too hard, that's the bottom line. Otherwise it was a great morning of fun.
